11.01.2022 Happy International Day of Tolerance! The 1995 Declaration of Principles on Tolerance recognises the importance of respecting and appreciating the rich variety of the world’s cultures, forms of expression and ways of being human. At ISS Australia, we believe in standing in solidarity with everyone regardless of their background. In doing so, we recognise the universal human rights and the fundamental freedoms of others. Tolerance to celebrate our differences. #ToleranceDay

09.01.2022 Today marks the 31st annual UNICEF World Children’s Day! Also known as Universal Children’s Day and International Children’s Day, today is the official UNICEF day of action for children. Founded on the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, today is about celebrating every young person’s right to healthcare, education, clean water, protection from violence and to have a say in decisions that affect them. On behalf of our ISS Australia team, we want to wish all kids a very happy World Children’s Day!

09.01.2022 This week Australia celebrates NAIDOC Week, a celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is Always Was, Always will be. ISS Australia acknowledges that Australia always was and always will be Aboriginal land and encourages those that call Australia home to embrace the true history of Australia that our First Nations people have occupied and cared for our land for over 65,000 years and that their sovereignty was never ceded.

09.01.2022 ISS Australia applauds the NSW Government for allowing an Integrated Birth Certificate (IBC) to be issued to adopted persons in NSW. Children adopted in NSW will now be issued with both a post-adoptive birth certificate, and an IBC. The IBC will also be available retrospectively, for adults and family previously adopted in NSW. For more information see this Factsheet. https://www.nsw.gov.au//factsheet%20integrated%20birth%20c

05.01.2022 Happy #ChildrensWeek! Based on Article 15 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, 2020 Children’s Week celebrates the right of all children to choose their own friends and safely connect with others. At ISS Australia we believe children and families should be connected wherever they are in the world. This week, we celebrate the talents, skills, achievements and rights of all children and recognise the contribution they make to our community.

04.01.2022 The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) on this day in 1989. This international treaty underpins all of ISS Australia’s casework as it recognises the human rights of all children everywhere, whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities, socio-economics or other status.
