19.01.2022 ROAD RESURFACING Watson Street, Camp Hill Please note that your street will be resurfaced from Monday 28 September and should be completed by 23 October (weather permitting).

19.01.2022 As your local team, Terri Butler MP, Di Farmer MP and I will always work together to fight for the best outcomes for our community. With the second Airport runway opening in July this year, many residents from Hawthorne, Balmoral, Bulimba and surrounds have talked to us about increased aircraft noise. We know this is a real issue. In fact the three of us all live locally in Morningside and Hawthorne and have personal experience of it. ... It’s a Federal issue, and one that Terri has made multiple representations about. However, the three of us have jointly decided that we need to take a team approach to it to try to get the best possible outcome for our community. It’s what we’ve always done when there’s a big issue affecting us all. We know there are lots of things we can’t change about any of this. When he was the local Federal Member, Kevin Rudd used his own personal money, and money raised by the community campaign, to take the federal government and the Brisbane Airport Corporation to court in the mid 2000s, to try to stop the runway being built. He lost and was ordered to pay costs. However we think it’s only fair that we all understand whether there are different choices airlines can make about the way they use the runway that could make a difference to the noise that’s affecting so many of us. Many locals have told us they have signed multiple petitions, with no effect. Many have written to the Brisbane Airport Corporation and/or Airservices Australia, and have received highly technical responses. It’s time we focussed our efforts in one direction, and asked the one person with oversight of all of these things the LNP Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack to clarify, in non-technical terms, what options there are to reduce noise. We’re asking you to sign our petition and stand together as a community to ask the LNP Federal Government in Canberra to advise us of options. https://www.terributlermp.com/aircraftnoise

14.01.2022 Morningside Labor councillor Kara Cook, who previously ran a petition against the development, said the reported gagging of residents was deeply concerning. All residents have a right to have their say on development applications, particularly when a development will have a significant impact on them personally, Cr Cook said. 12.01.2022 Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who called and sent messages of support following the QWeekend article on Saturday. To be honest, at times politics can be a pretty brutal and lonely path to walk and the last couple of days have been a wonderful reminder of who your friends and supporters really are, they are the people who cheer on you on at every step and celebrate your success with you, they are also there during the tough times. Josh and I feel incredibly lucky to have such a strong support network not only today but throughout our careers and lives. PS on a lighter note, here’s a few Pine Fest shots as requested

03.01.2022 THANK YOU to these amazing Norman Park residents who answered the call and headed into yesterday’s Public and Active Transport Committee Meeting to hear the outcome of my petition to reinstate the Norman Park Ferry after it was CUT by the Mayor, Adrian Schrinner and LNP Administration. As expected, all LNP Councillors including the Chairperson of the Committee Cr Ryan Murphy voted against reinstating the Ferry. Cr Cassidy (Labor) and Cr Sri (Greens) supported our local area a...nd reinstatement of the service. The petition will now go to the Full Council meeting next Tuesday for a full vote and debate, but yesterday’s decision is effectively a rubber stamp - unless the LNP who have 20 out of 27 positions on Council change their mind. One positive outcome from yesterday was that Cr Murphy committed both himself and the Lord Mayor to meeting with residents after questions from Cr Cassidy. I had also written to both Cr Murphy and the Lord Mayor requesting a community meeting last week but I have not yet received any formal response. As soon as I have those details, I will provide those to residents wanting to attend. In the meantime, if you would like to watch the meeting of Council next week (it’s an incredibly long meeting and the petition will not be considered until late afternoon/early evening) you can view it live via the council website or the meeting and minutes are also published a week after it has occurred online. I will also provide a further update following the meeting next week. Once again, thank you to our local community for supporting this campaign. Whether you attended the committee meeting yesterday, have written emails and letters to the Mayor and Cr Murphy, signed one of our petitions, attended the community meeting last week, letterboxed residents with information, have made an application to address full Council (or all of the above!) - your efforts are greatly appreciated. I am so proud to represent such an active and engaged community.

01.01.2022 Still no cross river ferry at Norman Park after they were pulled from the water - now serious questions are being raised about the new City Cats tender. The Lord Mayor has completely mismanaged the whole Ferry Fleet and our community are left without ferry services.
