18.01.2022 Labor is calling on the Government to urgently implement consolidated real-time data collection of First Nations Deaths in Custody. It shouldn't take parliamentary inquiries or media reports for us to learn about these incidents.
17.01.2022 As we wrap up the ALP National Conference, I am proud to be a member of a party that has renewed its commitment to the Uluru Statement in full: a voice to the parliament; and a Makarrata commission to oversee a national process for Truth-Telling and Treaty and agreement-making.
16.01.2022 Since 2013, the Liberals have cut women’s pay and working conditions. They’ve cut family benefits, childcare, schools, and Medicare. And they’ve tried to make women in crisis drain their own superannuation accounts to be able to escape a violent relationship.
14.01.2022 The Morrison Government has blamed states for its own slow roll-out of the coronavirus vaccines.
10.01.2022 The Morrison Government has finally released an embarrassing report which has failed to demonstrate that its cashless debit card works, but only after Labor issued a freedom of information request as well as an order for its production in the Senate.
08.01.2022 This is $2.5 million that could have been better spent on the issues that the Government says this card is supposed to. It is no wonder the Government kept this report a secret during the debate in the parliament last year. The Government spent $2.5 million on a report that only confirms what the Government has known all along, that its cashless debit card does not work.... The Government only released this embarrassing report after Labor issued a freedom of information request as well as an order for its production in the Senate. Even the report’s authors admit it is not worth the paper it is written on.
05.01.2022 Pensioners have worked hard and contributed all of their lives. They deserve our respect.
04.01.2022 "While the Government continues to fuel speculation about the way forward on income support, over 1.3 million Australians are anguished by the uncertain future that lay ahead for them after March."
02.01.2022 Australians just want a good job, to contribute and to build a life for ourselves and our families.
