22.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: At the AGM it was resolved to hold a community forum to discuss the future direction of the Meningie Football Club on Monday 30th of November. Due to the short lead time prior to the date which had been proposed for the community forum, it has not been possible to arrange for all the key stakeholders to be present. As a result, this meeting will be re-scheduled to a date to be advised. The proposed date will be advertised as soon as possible. The... MFC committee will be working closely with the Meningie Netball Club on this issue and will aim for a date in the near future. We want as many members and supporters to be able to attend. If you have any queries in relation to the community forum, they can be forwarded to me direct to [email protected] Scott Richter President Meningie Football Club

22.01.2022 The MFC committee is thrilled to announce the appointment of Shawn "Chook" Ridley as its U16 coach for the 2021 season. Chook is a life member of MFC who needs no introduction. In recent years he has coached our Reserves side but will now turn his hand to guiding our all-important juniors. Congratulations, Chook, and all the best. Stay tuned to our page for more updates in the coming weeks. #Bears2021

22.01.2022 It was the last session of our Auskick program tonight and the kids finished off with celebratory BBQ. Two groups of kids participated in the 10 week program which was aimed at skills, social inclusion, expressing themselves, creating special moments and of course, having fun! Everyone was presented with an Auskick Club Pass and medallion by Coaches Michael Greenwood and Nigel Williams. A huge thanks to Greeny and Nige plus all the parents and caregivers who helped out during the program. Our kids will be ready to take the field in season 2021!

22.01.2022 The Meningie Football Club Committee held a special meeting last night to discuss returning to play for season 2020. After many weeks of deliberation, the MFC committee voted unanimously to withdraw its senior and junior teams from season 2020. There are many factors which contributed to the reluctant decision. Please be assured the committee has done everything possible and explored all options to make a playing season viable, however in all instances, the outcomes were not ...positive for our club to move forward this season. We acknowledge the COVID-19 restrictions are easing, however to manage the return to play policy, coupled with the extra tasks of making our facility safe, puts extra pressure on our hard-working volunteers. The River Murray Football League has been notified and we will have representation at Thursday night's league delegates meeting. Our sponsors have also been notified and the committee is exploring sponsorship options for our existing sponsors for season 2021. Our members are our top priority and this decision was not made lightly. Rest assured, the committee is already working towards season 2021. We will be back better and stronger. These are turbulent times and you may have questions. Please fell free to contact a committee member, President Scott Richter, Vice President Adam Hurle or Secretary Alistair Lawson. You can also email the club at [email protected] or message us via this page. We appreciate your understanding on this important decision and look forward to seeing you at the club in 2021.

19.01.2022 Congratulations to MFC’s Tom Lewis on making his league debut for Sturt Football Club Inc. - SANFL in their win over West Adelaide. Tom had a brilliant game, laying 10 tackles - the most of either team. Well done, Tom. The club and community is very proud!

19.01.2022 MFC is thrilled to welcome Sam Sanders back to Bearland in 2021. Sam moved to Paskeville in 2019 where he was a revelation up forward in the YPFL and has recently moved back to Adelaide. He was part of our 2014 premiership side and has been part of the leadership group in previous years. Welcome home, Sam! #Bears2021

15.01.2022 Michael Greenwood is not only a key player at Meningie Football Club but a key player in the local community. The father of three has been a volunteer at Meningie ambulance station for more than three years, ensuring all of us have fast access to the best treatment in an emergency. The Meningie ambulance station is in urgent need of volunteers. With free training, flexible rosters and the opportunity to learn life-saving medical skills, now is the time to join SA Ambulance Service and help give back to the Coorong community. To find out more about becoming an ambulance volunteer, please call Lui Morello on 0427 615 141.
