24.01.2022 Happy earth day friends! "The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. Our food should be our medicine. Our medicine should be our food." Quote - #Hippocrates X... MJT See more
23.01.2022 Just over 2 weeks ago I had hip surgery to repair some torn cartilage and ligaments that have been giving me pain and limiting my active lifestyle for the past 12 months. Today was my first day back in the gym since surgery, and I am over the moon with happiness that my recovery is going so smoothly. I was walking perfectly without crutches after 10 days and progressing though all my rehab exercises with flying colours. By being deeply dedicated to strength training in the g...ym, eating nutritious food, avoiding alcohol and stretching tight muscles in the lead up to this surgery is the key to having a speedy recovery! Strengthening the muscles around my legs, hip and core as well as working on my cardiovascular health with low impact exercises such as cycling and rowing meant my circulation, heart and immune system were in great condition as well as having a strong functional body to support me though my journey post surgery. If surgery happens to be on the cards for you, prepare yourself with these positive lifestyle changes and you will spring back in no time!! Watch out world! X MJT

22.01.2022 Many people believe Cortisol commonly referred to as the "stress hormone" is evil and will make you fat. This is not entirely true, Cortisol is a very important hormone. Yes while high levels can be damaging, low levels can be even further detrimental to health. We need a certain amount of cortisol, being it is the body's number one anti-inflammatory hormone and we need a certain amount to function properly as low cortisol levels can make us more susceptible to autoimmune and... inflammatory reactions. So don't knock it just yet! p.s Here is a cool video about our body's Stress response. Xx MJT
21.01.2022 When Injured its important to continue to exercise the body parts that are still intact. Training will lead to a further release of growth hormone which will speed up the recovery process and help your broken bits mend sooner! xxx MJT

20.01.2022 Nothing quite like a creepy bag of babies! Today I refreshed my CPR and First-aid qualifications. You should feel totally safe with me as your PT, I got your back!! X MJT
16.01.2022 Gotta put it out there... YOU ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF! Yes, in an ideal world a skinny tea or magic pill could give us ripped abs and a booty to die for, but sorry guys and gals, life does not work that way. These faux products are not gonna do anything, besides take your money and most probably leave you worse for wear financially and physically. ... I could go on about "waist sinchers" and how squeezing your organs out of place and reducing your abdominal muscle function is whack, or how those teas act as laxatives and you are losing minerals, vitamins and water.. not fat. You can't take short cuts and expect results. Put in the hard work, stay focused, and speak to health professionals, not celebrity endorsed, instagram models who are making $$ off your insecurities. We are complex, amazing and unique creatures and all deserve to be healthy & happy. Look after yourself and tell those skinny tea biatches where to shove their promotional discount code! Xx MJT
14.01.2022 This morning I had a light workout in the park accompanied by ma dude Zeppelin. In an hour I'm heading in to hospital to get hip surgery! In the long run up to today's surgery I have been training regularly (the body parts that I can train) and eating good nutrient dense foods and keeping hydrated! I have also worked hard at strengthening the muscles around my hip for the past year, with a lot of focusing on my glutes, core, back and legs. I know that my recovery should be s...peedy! When your injured it's easy to get in a bad headspace, stop exercising, eat shitty foods and sit around feeling sorry for yourself. But the best thing you can do is the opposite! If your feeling blue, Talk to your friends and family, don't be afraid to ask for help and support, get outa the house, sit in the sunshine, have a fresh juice and focus on the positive things you got going on! I can't wait to get back to normal life and my fantastic job as a personal trainer!! But for now i would not mind some friendly faces coming over for a cup of tea in the coming weeks! Big love Xxx MJT
13.01.2022 Boooooya!! I Just got back from my first yoga class since I had surgery for my hip. Yoga really helps stretch the tight, sore muscles around my hip as well as put me in a relaxed headspace. I have not been active for around 12 weeks, my body is not perfect and that's not what I'm aiming for. My goal is to simply be healthy, happy and functional again. Today marks me moving forward, and this picture represents a starting point for me. Can't wait to see what the future holds ... P.s I am excited to announce that I will be taking clients on for Personal training as of the start of 2015 X MJT
12.01.2022 Spending this stormy, cold sydney night soaking in the tub with some Epsom salts and coconut + vanilla essential oils. Epsom salt is a naturally occurring compound of magnesium and sulfate, it is readily absorbed by the skin and can help relieve sore, tense muscles, reduce cramping and inflammation. It helps to de-stress with magnesium being linked to aid in the production of serotonin which gives us humans the feeling of calm and relaxation. Can help improve sleep & concent...ration and the elimination of toxins from our bodies. It also makes your skin feel amazingly smooth! So wether you just smashed out a tough gym sesh, or just want to relax on this freezing Sydney night, get your hands on some! I got a 900g tub from about life for $4.95

10.01.2022 This article about how sharp and witty journalist (and husband of Lisa Wilkinson) Peter FitzSimons' life changed since quitting sugar and alcohol. Deffo worth a read :) "You really do bring your A-Game to everything. You think clearly, need less sleep, and are twice as productive. You are much less often bad-tempered, and I mean that. (I never used to think grog affected my moods, but now I get it. It did. And restaurant bills, seeing as you ask, are about half."
10.01.2022 I LOVE making delicious shakes and smoothies. It's a great way to pack a load of nutrients into your day wether it be for breakfast or post workout. It only takes a minute to whip one up & will have you feeling full & satisfied in no time. I have so many different ingredients around the house & just chuck in whatever is in my kitchen, My smoothie recipes change all the time which is good because as humans we need to be eating a variety of different foods, so we can gather a d...iverse range of vitamins and minerals. Today's weightloss smoothie: Half an organic bannana (frozen) A small handful of Organic frozen mixed berrys 4 cashew nuts A handful of organic spinach One teaspoon maca powder 2 teaspoons chia seeds 1 scoop organic vanilla whey protein from pasture fed cows Than filled up the rest with chilled filtered water Decorated with desiccated coconut & goji berrys It was super delicious, could not even taste the spinach! Have a go experimenting yourself and share your favorite ingredients and recipes X MJT

05.01.2022 I have a whole lot of spare time since I am at home recovering from hip surgery and decided to activate some almonds! Nuts naturally contain anti-nutrients and enzyme inhibitors which prevent digestion and nutrient absorption. Soaking nuts removes toxins such as phytic acid and tannin which give nuts that bitter taste, activated nuts taste better and have more nutrients. Almonds provide 28 essential nutrients including vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, fibre and protein. Top o...f the list is the natural antioxidant, Vitamin E, and there are also good amounts of fibre and protein as well as smaller quantities of B vitamins and minerals. They are also a fantastic source of calcium, so by soaking/activating/fermenting we get better absorption of all these nutrients. You can buy your own (bloody expensive) or Make your own batch at home :) I activated mine by: Soaking raw almonds(not roasted or salted) in a big glass bowl and fill with enough filtered water to cover all almonds, add a teaspoon or 2 of Himalayan salt, cover with a cloth and let soak for for 24 hours. During the germination process the salt encourages enzyme production leading to a higher vitamin content. After 24 hours I rinsed and drained the water from the bowl. than de-shelled each almond. (get a friend or little hands t help you) Dehydrate’ the almonds on low heat (either in a dehydrator or on the lowest temperature your oven will do). This will take anywhere from 6-24 hrs, depending on the temperature you’re using. The nuts will be done when they feel (and taste) dry. Enjoy :) x MJT
