25.01.2022 From all the staff at Riverlands Montessori School - Welcome back for another term of fun, excitement and learning!

25.01.2022 Have a lovely holiday Riverlands Families, we hope you enjoy this short film we have created for you. Please stay safe, stay home and spread kindness. From all the Staff.

25.01.2022 WA Day commemorates the foundation of the Swan River Colony near Perth by European settlers in 1829. It was previously known as Foundation Day but the name was changed in April 2012 to recognise the much longer history of the Aboriginal people of the land. Originally Albany, on the south coast, was to be the capital of WA but better resources for shipping and farming were found on the Swan River so Perth became the capital. WA was settled as a free colony, unlike some other p...arts of Australia like New South Wales and Port Arthur. It was the only British colony in Australia established with land grants to settlers. The settlers were given land in proportion to the quantity of people and goods they brought to the colony and were only given the full title to their land when it had been improved enough to be considered established and sustaining. From all the staff at Riverlands Montessori School we hope you enjoy your version of WA Day.

24.01.2022 National Tree Day National Tree Day started in 1996 and has grown into Australia's largest community tree-planting and nature care event. It’s a call to action for all Australians to get their hands dirty and give back to the community. ... While every day can be Tree Day, we dedicate celebration of Schools Tree Day and National Tree Day to the last Friday in July, and first Sunday in August respectively. In 2020, Schools Tree Day is Friday 31st July and National Tree Day is Sunday 2nd August. 2020 PUBLIC EVENTS CANCELLED Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic across Australian communities and the ongoing uncertainty around potential restrictions on gatherings, Planet Ark has made the difficult decision to cancel official National Tree Day planting events this year. We are still encouraging people where possible to plant in their own backyards and there are many other ways you can get involved. Source: https://treeday.planetark.org/

24.01.2022 Riverlands Montessori School appreciates and pays respect to those past, present and future, who put themselves on the frontline for others and their country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning... We will remember them. The Ode comes from For the Fallen, a poem by the English poet and writer Laurence Binyon and was published in London in The Winnowing Fan: Poems of the Great War in 1914. This verse, which became the Ode for the Returned and Services League, has been used in association with commemoration services in Australia since 1921.

22.01.2022 Given the current COVID19 pandemic and due to social distancing rules in place we kindly ask that all non-essential visitors do not enter our school area. This includes but is not limited to general visitors, playgroup trials or classroom observations. We appreciate your understanding as the safety of well-being of everyone is paramount. Our staff and students are engaging with one another through online learning platforms that are providing many opportunities for students to continue with their Montessori education at home and connect students with one another. Riverlands Montessori School welcome any interested family to register for a live online tour. This will be an opportunity to ask questions and see the school grounds from the comfort of your home. Please contact [email protected] to arrange a suitable time.

18.01.2022 Times have changed, and science has made great progress, and so has our work; but our principles have only been confirmed, and along with them our conviction that mankind can hope for a solution to its problems, among which the most urgent are those of peace and unity, only by turning its attention and energies to the discovery of the child and to the development of the great potentialities of the human personality in the course of its formation. Maria Montessori, The Discovery of the Child, p. x

05.01.2022 Happy Star Wars Day everybody! May the 4th er, the Force be with you! Star Wars Day is a fan-made holiday that is celebrated on the 4th of May every year. Its a chance for you to show just how much you love the worldwide phenomenon that is Star Wars, from the extensive cinematic universe to the amazing plethora of novels and activity books. But whilst the pun is now annual traditional, what does the original phrase mean? Saying "May the force be with you" would be to wi...sh someone well, that they would succeed and be protected from dangers. The Force can enhance natural physical and mental abilities, including strength and accuracy, according to the Star Wars movies. It can mean the same thing. It can also mean: good luck, be well, good fortune, may good things happen to you.

04.01.2022 ANZAC Day, 25 April, is one of Australias most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. During this difficult time whilst we are not able to attend our usual commemorative events, we can still stand together and pay our respects. The RSL is asking all Australians to turn our front light on, light a candle or torch and stand in our driveway, on our balcony ...or at our window for the dawn service at 6:00am on Saturday 25 April 2020. Together we can stand to, and remember. The RSLWA are also asking us to post ANZAC tributes to our Facebook and Instagram pages.
