17.01.2022 Stay Snake Safe With weather warming, so does the risk of encountering snakes. There are some simple things you can do to prevent snakes in and around your home. The goal is to limit the availability of food and shelter by; Covering all holes into houses and garages, as snakes will enter through these points Maintain a tidy yard, keep lawns low and minimize buildup of leaves, sticks and other waste like metal and wood where snakes like to hide... Mice & rats are the main household food source for snakes, control them by using baits and traps, also, store food in a way that mice & rats can’t access If you find a snake in or around your home, keep your distance & do not try to catch it. You can call WIRES wildlife rescue on 1300 094 737, they will organize a trained snake handler to remove the snake.
