23.01.2022 Not Navy, but anyone that still has a taste for the sea, ROTARY are holding their second "Sailing into Life" speakers series, co-hosted by the Royal Geelong Yacht Club and the International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians. On Thursday Nov 5th at 18.30 (6.30pm). It will be a free online event with Prof. Bill Kosar logging on from Kenya - a conversation about Bill's experience sailing along the East African coast. Bill is a Rotarian and works throughout the world assisting... post-conflict governments and private sector entities with legal reform, legislative drafting and capacity building (currently in Somalia, remotely on several other projects including ones in Myanmar, Fiji and South Sudan). He sails a modified Elf 26 catamaran and most recently came 2nd in his class in the 2019 Dar Tanga Yacht Race, which is the oldest and longest offshore yacht race in East Africa. We anticipate other Rotarians and mariners from his region joining us. Registration is essential via Trybooking https://www.trybooking.com/BLZLV

23.01.2022 Hi all, tried Poll but failed dismally. Question: As the AFL Grand Final is on a Saturday night, would you attend the Navy Club Geelong to watch the game? Yes, No or Maybe. We can currently have 10 inside and would have TV outside where permitted another 20.... Numbers could increase pending future announcements. Covid rules apply-details on entry. Determining if it is worth us opening. Thanks in advance. See more

21.01.2022 Today we remember our brave brothers lost in the sinking of the HMAS Armidale after a battle with Japanese aircraft on 1 December 1942 off the Timor coast. Also the on going fight that saw Teddy Sheean awarded the Victoria Cross after his heroic actions, returning to his mates from enemy fire . For the full story https://www.navy.gov.au/hmas-armidale-i... We will remember them.

19.01.2022 If you are struggling or you know of any Veterans or Veterans families in need, support is available.

19.01.2022 Social connection is extremely important in our lives and even more relevant in current lockdown conditions. Epworth Healthcare has posted link on Facebook to a blog for Veterans Health Week (VHW). 2020 VHW is vastly different from other years, but with modern technology this shouldn't stop us connecting/reconnecting with others that we served with. Volunteering is another great social connection. The Naval Assoc Geelong always welcome new members wishing to volunteer with events admin and hospitality. Also voluneering with Legacy, RSL, Cadet units, Lions, or Rotary should be considered.

18.01.2022 Garden area looking great thanks to Aido, Slade's, Peter Tascas and Nev. Temp for tomorrow and summer until we can fund a permanent setup.

14.01.2022 Should be some interesting stories by the Veterans. Worth listening to.

14.01.2022 Naval Association of Australia getting some exposure on TV. Bravo Zulu to those involved with the commemorations. Would love to see more Veterans at Geelong Sub Section to assist in conducting some commemorations in future years.

11.01.2022 Proud to be Veteran reading stories like this. BZ Mallacoota RSL for a great initiative.

06.01.2022 Now we know who is playing in the Grand Final, would you attend the Navy Club Geelong to watch the game? Yes, No or Maybe. 06.01.2022 As we reflect on our own challenges in 2020, please spare some time to remember those lost in historical conflicts. 75 years on from the end of WWII we may not be able to physically be at a large commemoration but why not repeat ANZAC day. Stand in your driveway, listen to the virtual commemoration, turn it up for the neighbour to hear and be proud of being an Australian.

04.01.2022 Pause for one minute’s silence At 11am on the 11th of November, we ask you to observe a minute’s silence to remember the servicemen and servicewomen who have ri...sked their lives to defend our nation and build peace. Wherever you are at home, school or work - honour their spirit this Remembrance Day.
