Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is celebrated to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar (incarnation of the god Vishnu). It is believed that on this day Rama returned to his people after 14 years of exile during which he fought and won a battle against the demons and the demon king, Ravana. 06.01.2022 Traditionally, the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. It is celebrated to commemorates Qu Yans, who commited suicide by drowning himself in Miluo River. When the locals heard about this tragedy, they rowed out on the river to search for his body but failed. Therefore, to preserve his body, people paddle their boats up and down the river and beating drums to scare the evil spirits away. They then throw lumps of rice... into the river to feed the fish so that they would not eat Qu Yuans body. NP would like to wish you Happy Dragon Boat Festival!
