24.01.2022 D O U B L E L E G Over the next week I’ll be posting each individual exercise in the AB 5 series. The second exercise is the double leg stretch. Great for working your abs as well as engaging your legs and mobilizing your shoulders.... Really reach your arms and legs as if they’re being pulled away from your body. Make sure to keep your belly drawn into your spine with your lower back flat into the mat to prevent arching. Only go as low with your legs as you comfortably can, the aim is to improve abdominal strength by staying in full control throughout the movement. 22.01.2022 A B 5 S E R I E S Here it is! The AB 5 series all put together. A few key points to remember: Keep your lower back on the mat by really engaging your tummy muscles. Don’t let it arch!... Tuck your chin to your chest & slide your ribs towards your hips to lift higher so your neck doesn’t strain. Keep the movements slow so you can feel every muscle working and get the full benefits of this series. 12.01.2022 C R I S S C R O S S Third part of the ab 5 series is the criss cross. Draw abs towards the mat while keeping a neutral spine. Rotate through your upper spine, moving your shoulder to opposite hip.... 09.01.2022 S C I S S O R S The 5th and final exercise in the Ab 5 series is the leg scissors. A challenging move, especially if you've just completed the other 4 exercises of the series! Lengthen both legs out straight, one towards the ceiling and the other parallel to the ground. Keeping a neutral spine lift your head and shoulders off the floor, sliding your ribs to your hips.... Keeping your chin tucked in and shoulders relaxed, reach your hands on either your hamstring or calf (not behind the knee) of the leg closest to you, aim to use a soft touch on your leg and use your leg muscles to control the movement. Reach pointed toes away as you gently pulse your leg twice towards you and then switch to the other side keeping your tummy scooped in. Don't forget to breathe! For a challenge, try interlacing your fingers behind your head so you must control the movement with your legs and abdominals, rather than pulling with your hands. #oasispilates #abs #core #abfive #ab5 #pilates #powerhouse #strong #lowimpact #intuitive #controlled #movement #mindbodyspirit
03.01.2022 L E G L O W E R S Move #4 of the Ab 5 series is the double leg lowers. Great for testing your abdominal strength but be careful not to strain your low back! Start with bent knees and work your way up to straight legs.... Flatten your lower back into the ground and draw tummy into spine to prevent straining.
