It's a good little exercise to remind yourself who those people are and what they bring into your life. 22.01.2022 A lot of things are out of our control, strangely these things that are out of our control are the ones that hold us back, consume us and worry us. Each time you have a worry or a stress pop up. Stop. Decide - is this is within my control or out of it? Start moving your efforts into things you can control such as your feelings, decisions, actions, how you treat others...and how you take care of yourself. 21.01.2022 When we are presented with hurt or difficult times, we can focus on either of two things; the hurt or the lesson. The concept of karma teaches that the choices we make determine the outcomes we receive in return from the energy we focus on and thoughts we have. If we choose to hurt, all we receive in return is suffering and we continue suffering until we learn the lesson from the situation - which some never learn and continue to suffer. Should we choose the alternative to se...arch for the lesson to be learnt in the situation - we are free to proceed in life, cross those bridges and grow from the situation and away from the hurt. It's not necessarily the easiest path but it's the path with freedom from suffering, even if we have to learn over and over again. It builds resilency and confidence that lessons can be learnt in difficult times, no matter what. Next time you are presented with suffering, small or large, ponder these choices. Meditate or journal to determine what you need to learn from this. 18.01.2022 I immediately felt such compassion, grief, and sadness that it felt like I’d been punched. I literally felt sick to my stomach. I felt it for the trees. Not for myself, that I could no longer enjoy the beauty of them, but I felt for the trees themselves. Tortured is the perfect word to describe what they have done to them, and what the trees must be feeling... Heartbreaking.

15.01.2022 In a family of mountain bikers, surprisingly I've never been out...until the weekend. My son took me out and as expected I was slow and cautious, but he didn't seem to mind that much and even offered advice and stopped to tell me how to manage certain sections, keeping a watchful eye to look out for me. 11.01.2022 My Father-in-law last night asked me for the sneak preview of what today's quote would be, as he quite liked yesterdays and thought he'd get the first hint of what it might be... So this morning I considered relationships that are not necessarily bound by blood and how different they can be. In life we are given relationships determined by marriages or work that we may not necessarily choose at first. It's interesting that with time and choices, those relationships can becom...e so well forged we may even forget they are not joined in blood. It does however come down to choice. Choosing kindness and love over negative aspects such as jealousy and bitterness or other negatives. Some relationships we may not have the choice to make strong by decisions made by the other party, but any person that offers respect and kindness to you can be reciprocated and will likely forge a wonderful relationship. Blood is not a determining factor of family, how kindness is shared is all that matters. Even years after, we can still be judging people for something that might have been a lapse in judgment at the time and not ill intended.
