There are so many businesses behind the pretty pictures that work so hard, usually to quite tight deadlines, to provide the beautiful furniture and decor items for our clients. To the suppliers that we have worked with this year, we appreciate you all so much. From the late night emails, to the follow up texts, to the desperately trying to track down lost items - this does not go unnoticed. As we head into the craziest time of year and burnout becomes a reality for so many in this industry, please know that without you, none of this would be possible

19.01.2022 Im thrilled to be working with @saritaholland on her childrens rooms in her new home over the coming weeks. I love this initial concept so much and its modern take on the adventure theme that we go to quite often for boys. The wallpaper from @miltonandking is such a stand out! We cant wait to get it installed. What Im most excited about though, is being able to coordinate this project from my warm office in Queensland, I mean I love you Melbourne clients and I enjoy a visit, but Ill just stay up here until at least October ok?

19.01.2022 Its been a little quiet around here, lovely followers! Alongside all of my interior projects, Ive been working on a beautiful range of childrens skincare products with a friend of mine. Petite Skin Co. was created after we noticed our childrens skin was starting to change - all the sweaty sport, dance makeup and just getting grubby was taking a toll. We realised water just wasnt cutting it anymore to get rid of the daily grime. We also realised that introducing a gentle... skincare routine now, including applying sunscreen daily, would set them up for lifelong good skin habits. When we couldnt find products that we felt were inspiring enough, gentle enough and light enough for our children, we decided to create our own. Our Face Cleansing Foam and Face Moisturiser Duo is available for pre-order now and is the perfect introduction to a daily skincare routine for children ages 5+. A daily face sunscreen is on the way in early 2020, as well as sheet masks and natural my first deodorants. 18.01.2022 Sending the biggest thank you to everyone that has reached out about the Petite Interior Co. Design Academy in recent months, I am humbled to share that we are now completely booked for 2020. In the past few weeks Ive had the privilege of talking to so many of you that have followed along with Petite Interior Co. and felt inspired to create a business that youre as passionate about as I am with this one. Even though were not able to work with all of you, the connection...s weve made have been wonderful. Ive had many requests to break down the course topics into 1 day sessions, to suit those who might not need the full business training course. Topics might include marketing + social media or just operations or perhaps you just want to spend the day with me learning all about how I design. These sessions are for 6 hours spread over 1 or two days and can be customized to your business needs. 18.01.2022 Im sure Im not alone when I say Im feeling very uneasy at the moment. I find myself somewhere between business as usual and wanting to bunker down until the storm has passed. If youve followed me for a while, youll know that 2020 was the year I planned to pull back on design services completely, with just a few projects here and there around the business training we are offering. In the past few weeks though, as Ive spoken to many of my friends in furniture, homewar...es and retail and heard their worries, I realised there was one thing that I could do to help... and it just so happened to be the one thing I think I can do best. Design Rooms. If we continue to work with clients who are in a position to do so, then we can keep recommending our suppliers. Those clients make purchases and the suppliers get to keep their doors open. Our homes are going to become our safe havens over the coming months and if youre still able to keep going on those projects around the home that youve been meaning to get to, Id encourage you to do so! Every bed, cushion, wall decal and rug will count over the coming weeks and months. Petite Interior Co. will be offering two lower cost online design options to encourage you to decorate, re-decorate, makeover or create your haven and support our community during these uncertain times. OPTION 1: 30 minute Skype consultation and emailed list of suggestions and suppliers $150. OPTION 2: Room Refresh. Design Board, Shopping list and Floor Plan $600. 16.01.2022 In 2013, I had a toddler and a 6 month old and a burning desire to create. Ive spoken to so many of you in the past few months that also feel that same pull towards a creative job or business. I could have never imagined that the Facebook page that I started that year would turn into what Petite Interior Co. is today. Theres been some incredible highs (I made House and Garden magazines top 50 rooms with my first ever project!) and some soul crushing lows (the collapse of ...our international expansion) but that burning desire to create, remains. The thing that I found hardest when it came to starting and then growing Petite Interior Co. is its ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to find people to answer questions and I had a lot of them. What insurance do I need? What systems should I use to keep track of products? How do I set up accounts and with who? I was lucky enough to find a mentor (or 3) very early on in my business, but I could have easily flailed around for a few years working out what worked and what didnt. Instead, I designed for over 30 clients in my first year of business (and was part of that top 50!) Mistakes? Of course, theres been plenty but year on year, I learn so much more. 16.01.2022 This weekend I received so many messages from people I havent spoken to for a long time, checking in to see how I was going. That small gesture prompted me to reach out to others and I heard some very sad stories. But amongst the fear and uncertainty, many designers that I spoke to are hopeful that they will be back stronger than ever. They are using this time to either change their business or work ON their business (something we dont often get much time for!). Many ar...e revisiting their marketing plan, making updates to their website and there was quite a few that are using this time to up skill. If your business doesnt already have a strong online presence or offering, this is something youre going to want to action very quickly. Weve had to make some big changes too. This year we were meant to have 4 ladies come to do interior design training here with me on the Sunshine Coast, which we have now had to move online. Thankfully, we had already begun that process with a small group of students from all over the world. With no one being quite sure when well be able to see our clients in person again, theres never been a better time for us to help these designers get their online design businesses up and running. 16.01.2022 Theyve been such a beautiful, practical addition to our home, but we have made the tough decision to sell our Ouef Perch bunks. Turns out, Asher is a bit of a hot sleeper and needs to feel air movement (we now have a ceiling fan installed in this space). Considering Asher sleeps on the bottom bunk every night, we thought this was a sign to give these amazing beds a new home. The bottom bunk can also be a separate single bed and orientated in an L shape. They are in perfect condition and will need to be collected from Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast. They are very heavy and will also need to be disassembled. The top mattress is in perfect condition and specially sized to meet Safety requirements. Please DM if you are interested

15.01.2022 As my girls are getting older, Ive started to notice their skin changing. Holly can get quite dry in patches and both seem to have some congested pores. Each night, Id pop them in the shower and say dont forget to wash your face! but with what? Water and a face cloth? Just water? Lets not even mention the time I discovered them using the body wash on their faces!! Im no expert, but Im passionate enough about my own skin care to know that body wash isnt something the ...girls should be using on their faces, so my search began to find something they could use regularly. Baby products seemed gentle enough, but the packaging didnt really inspire my girls. Teen ranges were all too harsh and stripping. Other products they found too thick and rich. I discussed this with some friends that had children the same age and they were in the same position. We agreed, that if we had no idea what to use on our childrens faces, other parents might be wondering too? One of my dear friends, Jacqui, and I decided to create Petite Skin Co. 15.01.2022 Home How are we all feeling? While I snuck in a few hours work, the girls were having their first online catch ups with their friends. Saturdays have certainly changed. 12.01.2022 As the kids head back to school and we settle back into routine, I feel like I can finally look towards my 2020 business goals. Since we last posted about it, the Petite Interior Co. Academy is now well underway, with our our first students starting at the end of this month. I couldnt be more thrilled and humbled by the response Ive had, locally and internationally. Most of our students are existing businesses looking to add interior design to their offering or interior d...esigners looking to take their business to the next level. As you may already know, I am taking a step back from 1:1 client work in 2020, with all of our spaces now fully booked. Im excited to share that all students that complete our design Academy, will feature on our website as a Petite Interior Co. trained decorator. Not only will we be referring all 2020 enquiries out to our students so they get to use their decorating skills immediately, youll also be able to easily find a designer that does what we do, in your area. 10.01.2022 The absolute highlight of my design career has been creating our online design course, @kidsrooms101. Its one thing to design and bring your own spaces to life, but watching others take your advice and tips to create their own rooms is an indescribable feeling. In the early days, people told me I was crazy, that I was giving away all my secrets, but I never saw it like that. The more people I could get thinking about cool ways to decorate for their children, the better! Many... students discovered their love for design and established their own businesses and hundreds of mums and dads went on to bring their childrens dream rooms to life. Like all things in business, where focus goes, energy flows and poor Kids Rooms has taken a bit of a back seat while Ali and I focus on other things. Even though every business has its challenges, and there are definitely good and bad days, I can tell you that there hasnt been a single day in the past 7 years that Ive questioned my love for kids interiors. The passion that I have for this industry grows year upon year and so does my desire to share it with others. Ive received hundreds of emails from equally passionate interior enthusiasts wondering h...ow they too can build their own successful childrens interior design businesses. This year I started coaching business owners and I have really discovered a love for sharing what I have learned on my journey. From this, the idea of the Petite Interior Co. Academy was born. 09.01.2022 My girls have been dancing almost ALL of their lives and I can tell you in that 7 years, weve never had a single day that they didnt want to go. Its a credit to the teachers at our beautiful dance school that have found the perfect balance of technique and fun, which keeps my girls coming back year after year. Its an exciting time for the business, at only 3 months old weve been overwhelmed with support from parents who also had no idea where to start with skincare for their pre-teens. Our goal for 2020 is to have a full collection of first products to introduce your child to skin, body and hair care, gently and naturally. 08.01.2022 On this first day of 2020, I wanted to share a little more about the other business journey that I went on in 2019. Ive created products before, but not to the level we did with Petite Skin Co. Between the packaging design and manufacture and the formulation process, we could have put the project in the too hard basket more than a dozen times. Getting a product to market is HARD WORK. But we were so passionate about this concept and we genuinely believe in teaching young... people about self care. My business partner Jacqui and I have 4 children between us, who were all getting to an age when they were interested in skincare. They watched us do our skincare routines morning and night, looked at our little bottles and jars with interest. Which lead to wonderful conversations about the importance of cleansing, moisturizing and daily sun protection. As you would expect, these conversations lead to them wanting to try for themselves. When we couldnt find natural, age appropriate, inspiring products to introduce our kids to skincare, we knew we were onto something and decided to create our own. After going through this process and seeing the benefits our own children are experiencing from understanding skincare, we believe more than ever that Good Skin Habits Start Early. In 2020 alone we plan to expand the range to include a daily face sunscreen, lip balm, natural my first deodorants and child size sheet masks. 06.01.2022 Recently, I let you know that the October intake of our childrens interior design course, @kidsrooms101 would be our last. Since then, weve been approached by several people interested in purchasing the business. After lots of consideration, Ali and I love the idea that something weve poured so much time into, is able to live on under new ownership. Kids Rooms 101 is a completely stand alone business to Petite, with very low overheads and costs that is ready for someone t...o sink their teeth into and begin earning immediately. It would sit beautifully beside an interior design studio, magazine, online store or blog. Like so many businesses Ive spoken to already this morning, its hard to fathom going back to business as usual while our beautiful country is in such distress. Then I realised that by getting back to work, could allow us to contribute even more. Last year, we announced that we would only be taking on 10 projects in 2020. Over the break, we received dozens of emails looking to reserve those places. We decided the f...airest way to allocate these places, was to open them all together, to our email list and to our social media audience.
