20.01.2022 Here is some motivation to keep moving your bodies through lockdown whatever that means for you. Movement is medicine and our bodies are more than capable to maintain strength and flexibility as we age if movement is practised often. We are halfway through lockdown everyone!... We can do this! Utilize your 1 hour of exercise outside and even a bit more inside if you can! If you need assistance we are still available via Telehealth so get in touch https://www.facebook.com/rdwnomr/videos/2714256602184057/

20.01.2022 What's been happening at PXP & Christmas / New year 2020 - https://mailchi.mp//whats-been-happening-at-pxp-christmas-

20.01.2022 One of our regular PXP attendees Fiona has a wonderful program that she has created this year called "Virtually There". It is an online community for children to practically learn and play! Here is a little more about Virtually There and what it is all about.... Virtually There is about way more than providing childcare activities and services to overloaded families. It's about creating the connections we need to grow a world for our children where they have a rich and dive...rse community of interconnections both locally and beyond geographical borders. The Virtually There village is about co-creating an organic, dynamic, imaginative, creative, sustainable community for our whole family which no longer relies on the ill fitting and outdated structures and systems of society. In our virtual village everyone has a place to be themselves and to find others who vibe off the same things as them. The kind of community I'm creating has no boundaries and there's no trying to squeeze people into little boxes. If you would like to know more check out Fiona's website virtually-there.com.au

19.01.2022 Some amazing people ! never too late to be strong!

18.01.2022 Dear clients and friends, We hope you are all doing well and staying safe during this time. Stage 4 is here and it is all about getting on top of this virus so we can all go back to our normal way of living. We are here to support you as best we can however we too have been given strict recommendations to follow and we would like to do our bit to reduce community transmission of COVID19. These recommendations will start as soon as Thursday the 6th of August. They may change a...s we are advised on more information and we endeavour to keep you informed as much as possible. So what does this mean? Exercise Physiologist's come under 'allied health' in the Australian health system along with physiotherapist's, chiropractors, osteopath's, psychologist's etc. The DHHS has strictly advised us that we are allowed to be open only to those who are urgent or critically in need of our services and they must have a recent or new referral from a general practitioner or medical specialist. This means we will be encouraging all of those that are in need of our services in the next 6 weeks to book with us via Telehealth. We will have 1-2 days of appointments allocated for a small number of patients who are in the critical/urgent with medical referral for face to face sessions in clinic only. We know this may be tough to take for those who have been working towards particular goals. We are still here for you and we can deliver very good quality assessment and exercise programming via Telehealth for all types of pain, injuries, chronic illness or mental health where it is required. Appointments via Telehealth are available for bookings online or give us a call in clinic. There are rebates now available from most private health insurances. We also have some exercise equipment available for purchase in clinic. We have plenty of power bands of various strengths and glute loops for keeping those hips strong during lockdown! Let's sit tight and enjoy our time at home and keep in touch over the next 6 weeks. We've got this! Please get in touch via phone 9459 5954, email: [email protected] if you would like to discuss your individual situation.

17.01.2022 We think Telehealth is here to stay! Whatever happens.

16.01.2022 We are OPEN via Telehealth for EVERYONE As per DHHS advice Face to face consults are determined by the following criteria only: Referrals from TAC, Workcover, NDIS, DVA and Medicare which prevent a significant change / deterioration in functional independence necessitating escalation of care (eg. Specialist review, increase in care needs/alt. accommodation, avoiding hospital admission or emergency department presentation) ... This is all about limiting our movement around Melbourne right now and we know we can offer great advice via Telehealth and we are very happy to be able to use this service whilst we are all keeping safe at home! Let’s keep exercising!! #stage4restrictionsmelbourne #stayhomestaysafe #exercisesportscienceaustralia #exerciseismedicine

07.01.2022 You can exercise outdoors with people who normally live with you or with one other person outside your household. This includes taking a walk or walking the dog..., yoga in the park, running, or bike riding. You and your exercise partner can also hire a personal trainer. Exercise should also be done locally to reduce the spread. While exercising, you should keep at least 1.5 metres between yourself and others. You cannot exercise with another person in a manner than would mean you are less than 1.5m apart (e.g. in a double kayak). Participation in community sport is not permitted and you must remain within your restricted area for exercise. We are asking Victorians to use common sense and consideration when it comes to their activities. More information here https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/sport-and-exercise-metropolitan

02.01.2022 We can no longer ignore the masses of evidence for weight training in prevention and treatment of all chronic diseases that can come along as we age. Especially Sarcopenia (muscle loss - which slowly declines from the age of 45years especially those with sedentary lifestyles) Our stereotypical mindsets of the elderly person (65 years and older yes, this is the ridiculous age gap that the term elderly refers to ) comes with the belief that this age group is frail, dependan...t on others, and should stop doing many of the things they used to do. This stereotype is then believed by that age group and it becomes a part of their individual behaviour and guess what..... their function declines because of silly beliefs. It doesn’t need to be this way. We CAN age strong, healthy and independent. You should continue the activities you enjoy doing or participate in. Weight training is appropriate for ALL chronic ailments / diseases even a lot of acute! BUT you must get advice from professionals who are trained to know what programming and intensity is right for you. A non bias suggestion would be an Accredited Exercise Physiologist of course
