25.01.2022 This afternoon at 1358, both Rescue Pumper and Pumper 428 were responded to a truck fire in Queanbeyan West. Whilst enroute to the truck fire, P428 was redirected by Newcastle Fire Communications to a grass fire on the border of the ACT and NSW. Whilst RP428 and our Permanent crew attended to the Truck Fire, P428 and our Retained Crew repositioned to High St Queanbeyan and commenced knocking down the fire as the first arriving appliance. ACT Fire and Rescue, Queanbeyan City R...ural Fire Brigade and Ridgeway Rural Fire Brigade arrived soon after and assisted in blacking out and mopping up operations. The fireground has now been handed over to ACTFR and ACTRFS. ACT Emergency Services Agency NSW RFS Lake George Zone Office

08.01.2022 What’s at the end of a rainbow? If you answered one of 428’s firefighters testing a 70mm branch, then you’d be correct! We go to great lengths (of hose) to ensure all our gear is well maintained, tested and ready for use. Our 70mm branches (fire brigade terminology for a nozzles) and hoses are primarily used for large structural fires. As we like to say big fire=big water!...
