Our athletes competed very well and many got to stand on the podium, bringing home medals for REC. 19.01.2022 2020 Open Volleyball Pool B State Finals Wednesday the 2nd of September saw the Open Boys and Girls contesting the Open Pool B State Finals. The teams made an early start to battle peak hour traffic on their way to the newly built Lights Community and Sports Centre at Lightsview. Both teams qualified for the State Finals by winning our Southern Zone last month. The Girls were defeated by Marryatville in the opening pool match 2-1 and turned things around to beat 2-0 Thomas M...ore in the final pool match. This secured them second in their pool and put them in the cross over final against a solid Adelaide High School outfit. The girls took it up to their highly fancied opponent, finding their voice and beating them with an emphatic 2-0 win, putting them into the State Final against Seaview. The girls shook off some nerves early in the match to fight back. Unfortunately, the girls were unable secure a set and lost the match 2-0. It was a great effort for this team as they had never progressed to the state finals. They managed to equal the results of our past 2 open girl’s teams, managing to finish second in the pool B completion for the third year running. The boys started strongly with back to back 3-0 wins against Temple and Endeavour. Endeavour boasted a few strong players, the boys were able to execute their game plan to reduce their stronger players. This put them first in pool B and set up a cross over final against Booleroo. The cross over final was all one-way traffic in the first set and we narrowly snuck through in the second set after a few unforced errors crept in. In Pool A Adelaide managed to win their way through to the final against the Reynella East boys. The final started slowly with both teams finding their feet. Adelaide took the first set after a small fight back mid-way through the first set. The second and third sets saw our boys sway momentum back in their favour and they powered away with the win. Congratulations to the Open boys and girls of 2020. You represented the school with pride and you should all be very proud of yourselves. Thanks to Mrs Nimmo and volunteer Rochelle Batista for coaching the girls. See more

18.01.2022 A big term for Sport, this term as we are catching up from Term 2. The 8/9 5 aside Statewide and Zone Soccer Carnival was held at REC. Our Grounds staff, as usual had prepared and marked the oval out with 9 pitches and it looked fantastic. Over 30 teams from the Southern and Fleurieu Zones were involved. The girls team, grew in confidence in the day and show great promise for next year. They finished 4th on the day. The Boys team finished 4th on the day and have qualified for the State Finals, that take place tomorrow at West Beach. The boys also had a team in the Zone Competition and they finished 5th out of 16 teams, so a very good result

17.01.2022 Open Boys Football Report. Game 1 REC 9.9.63 ... SEDA 4.4.28 Goal Kickers Josh D 3, Brayden C 3, Nick T, Riley M, Terry K Best Players Brayden C, Sam F, Zac BH, Jack F, Josh D, Jack D, Riley M Game 2 REC 2.1.13 Kadina 8.6.54 Goal Kickers Jack F, Josh D Best Players Sam F, Jack F, Jack D, Brayden C, Klae H Report The open boys Football team travelled to West Adelaide FC to take on SEDA College and Kadina High School. The first game against SEDA started as a tight contest, they had some serious size up forward and moved the ball quickly with skill. Our back six was very young but the boys performed extremely well keeping us in the game. We eventually got on top through the middle and Brayden C turned it on kicking three from the midfield and setting up several others. We would eventually run out comfortable winners. Game 2 we played Kadina and it was clear from the outset that it would be a big challenge. Their ball-use was excellent and the big oval certainly suited their style of play. We defended really well early and managed to keep ourselves in the game despite them dominating possession. In the second quarter we got our hands on the footy but struggled with our midfield-forward connection. We threw the team around a bit in the third quarter and Jack F sparked us across half-forward but we still trailed by 15 points heading into the last quarter. We rolled the dice in the last term just trying to make something happen and unfortunately Kadina would kick away, the scoreboard flattering them in the end. Unfortunately, we will not be advancing any further in the competition but the boys can hold their heads high after putting on a good show up until this point. A special thank you to Dylan W for running the boundary all day. Open

14.01.2022 The open boys Indoor Cricket team played off in the state finals on Tuesday 1st of September against Golden Grove HS, Adelaide HS and Henley HS. The first game against Henley HS was a tightly fought match which saw us restrict them to 64 runs batting first, our run chase was going well early but losing some wickets in the middle overs cost us and we eventually fell short of the total. Our second game against Adelaide HS was a challenging one, many of their players play high l...evel district Cricket and their class showed during the game. They put up a big score for us to chase, and to our credit we batted very well but their score would be too much to chase. The third game against Golden Grove we batted first and put up a respectable total but eventually they would pass us in the third batting partnership. Overall I was very proud of the boys who were extremely young compared to their opposition. Deakin H led the team well throughout the day and showed his class with bat and ball. Nathan W did a very good job behind the stumps and everyone else showed a lot of talent with bat and ball.

10.01.2022 State Finals for the Open Girls Basketball The first round of the Statewide Schools Open Basketball was held on Friday at Morphett Vale Basketball Stadium. REC Open Boys and Girls were in the competition. The Open Girls had 5 teams in their draw- Cardijn, Victor, Encounter, and Eastern Fleurieu. The girls won all of the pool games and then faced a grand final with a very small squad, finishing 2nd on the day. However due to the number of schools in the draw, still qualify for the State Finals in Term 4. Special thank you to Holly in year 12, who took time out of her busy studies to play the first 2 games. The Boys had a tough day, being in Pool A. They had a very close game with Blackwood and couldn't pull away from Encounter.

08.01.2022 Soccer trials at a great local club.

07.01.2022 9 a-Side Football This year REC took four sides to the Southern Vales 9-A-Side Football carnival held at South Adelaide FC. The girls teams battled bravely through the day despite being short on numbers and having a couple of injuries make matters worse. Both teams were very competitive and won a couple of games and had fun on the day. The boys teams had ample numbers and played the day in great spirit. One of the boys teams went the day undefeated and took out the carnival, highlighting some of the great talent we have coming through the school. A special thank you to our helpers Bella F, Christian W, Damien T, Zeeshan B and Olivia P who goal umpired and took pictures on the day.

The 8/9 Girls finished with 3 wins and 2 losses. It was great to have shadows and Sports Academy students representing REC in competition matches. The Year 9 Boys finished 4-0 record in their pool and didn’t have time to play in a cross over final, they showed their class during the day with some great offensive and defensive plays. The 9 Girls won all 4 pool games and took the win in the final vs hosts Victor Harbor. Some strong serving and structured defence was shown by our Year 9 Girls, this was the difference in the final. Thanks to School Sport SA for organising the competition and Victor Harbor High School for hosting.
