25.01.2022 COUNTRY SA AIC REFEREE SELECTIONS Congratulations to our 3 local Referee Coaches Bailey Vivian, Brock Beeching and Alissa Willsmore, and local & Storm player Thomas Alexander who have all been selected by Country SA to participate in the upcoming Adelaide Invitational Challenge! It is truly well deserved and great recognition of their development to this point and as a great opportunity to further their development we can’t wait to see what they bring back to our local referee group! Enjoy the tournament, have fun, be ready to learn a lot and make new friendships. Well done and good luck team!

18.01.2022 MERRY XMAS Wishing all our players, referees, coaches and families a Merry Xmas and hope you have a festive day with loved ones

18.01.2022 CALLING ALL COVID MARSHALLS As part of the Covid Plan in place we are required to ensure we have a Covid Marshal in place at all of our games. We have managed through the Winter Comp but with the upcoming Summer Season and getting back to having more games running over 5 nights a week, CADP trainings and Storm involvement, our current Covid Marshals simply won’t be able to cover all the games! What we are asking is anyone that has already completed the training or is happy ...to undertake it and go onto a rotating roster over the season, that you send us an email to [email protected]. The training link is below it only takes about 15 minutes to complete and we just need a copy of your certificate when completed. Our plan would be to wait until the fixture is released and then add you on the roster on a time when your child is playing, so as with anything the more we have the more we can share it around- ‘many hands make light work’ and if everyone could contribute just one game per term would make it easy to manage. Please don’t hesitate to contact if you have any questions and your help goes a long way https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/business-and/covid-marshals

18.01.2022 RETURN TO PLAY We are pleased to announce we will be returning to play tomorrow 1st December after missing the past two weeks. We have plans in place to extend our end date from Friday 4th Dec to Thursday 17th December which will leave us only needing to arrange catch up games for Rd 6 across all grades when we return. There will be stricter rules in place for our Covid Safe Plan, and we ask everyone to respect these and follow any directions from the Covid Marshall on duty..., which will help us provide a safe return to play environment for all. We will be monitoring the spectator numbers closely and although we enjoy having people supporting each other across multiple games and good crowds to cheer on the games, we will be sticking to 2 spectators per player and ask that unless you are there for your game, or your child’s game, please do not attend. We look forward to getting some more basketball in before we take a break over the festive period and hopefully things can be more relaxed when we return in the new year. See more

09.01.2022 REFEREE’S WANTED Summer Season Planning is well underway and we are looking to add to our Referee Portfolio! Strathalbyn and District Basketball Association together with our current referees have been using our Winter season to further develop our programs for our referees.... Shortly, we will have a good handful of qualified Referee Coaches to support, help you learn and develop, on and off the court. Interested? Would like to have a go? Haven’t done it before? That’s OK!! Let us help. All courses and on court training follow the Basketball Australia accreditation program and curriculum and include accreditation levels for referees. There are a number of state and national levels of accreditation offered by Basketball SA and all levels require theoretical and practical training, including an on-court assessment based on each levels’ national requirements. The first two levels of accreditation are as follows: Level 0 Accreditation Level 0 is an introductory referee course containing the basic rules, game administration and mechanics needed by beginner referees. Beginner referees working through their Level 0 accreditation are expected to officiate on-court wearing the beginner referee green shirt. Level 1C, 1B & 1A Accreditation The next step in an official’s development is to advance through the Level 1C, 1B and 1A theory and on-court competencies. Each of these courses are usually run on a weekend and take approximately 8-10 hours to complete. Referees must complete a theory exam and on-court assessment to meet the competencies outlined within each course level. Have a think about it we would love to have you on board and to join our team! Please feel free to discuss with Sam Sherriff 0448 884 805 or Belinda Vivian 0417 518 777, our Referee Co-Ordinators.

06.01.2022 WEEK ONE DONE Thank you to everyone who came out and cheered on our young superstars in our first week back at basketball since the COVID shut down. We think you would all agree it was great to see the kids back and into the action and many looked like they hadn’t missed a beat! The committee appreciates your patience while we work through the provisions we have to put in place for our Covid Safe Plan. We would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone of the Return to... Play recommendations by Basketball SA and observations we made which will help make things smoother and safer for all. -Please be sure to check your game or training times accurately -Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your scheduled start time to avoid large congregation in our foyer -While SDBA is not being strict on one spectator per player, we do have capacity restrictions so between our seated and standing capacity limits we ask everyone to try and average no more than 2 supporters per player and maintain social distancing inside the stadium -Please remember to leave promptly after your game or training has finished through the rear emergency exit only while sanitising your hands on the way out If we can all adhere to these guidelines we can make sure we provide a fun and safe environment for all our players and spectators to enjoy through this time of ‘a new normal’
