Bali It’s true though: Memories and fragrance are linked together in pretty amazing ways. But why? Well, according to scientists, it has to do with brain anatomy. As smells are processed by your olfactory bulb located inside your nose and just under your brain two key areas that are strongly tied to memory and emotion are stimulated. What’s even more interesting is that the visual, touch and auditory stimulus your brain receives don’t pass through those areas of the brain. That’s why smells and fragrances are more powerful than sights and sounds when it comes to unlocking our emotions and memories.
