25.01.2022 Are you flying out these holidays? Make sure you get your free Residential Parking Card for the Newman Airport! The Shire provides resident concession cards which allows permanent residents of the Shire to access the Long Term Car Parks at Newman Airport at no cost for up to 14 days per year! These cards need to be renewed every year in October! To get a card or renew your card, you need to come into the Shire admin office and bring your ID and proof of residency (utilit...y invoice, employment letter) See the form here: http://www.eastpilbara.wa.gov.au//Resident-Concession-card Finer details: There can only be one airport parking card per household. Lost or Damaged cards will incur a $15.00 fee. Any leftover credit from the Shire cannot roll over once the card has expired. The Shire needs 24hours notice to activate your card before you fly. 21.01.2022 Yesterday, at short notice, representatives of local sporting clubs came together and met with the Shire of East Pilbara, WA Police and BHP to raise concerns over recent break and enters, and damage at Sporting Clubs located in Newman, both at the Capricorn Complex and other areas. Together, the group identified ways we could partner, to improve security and reduce antisocial behavior. The first actions identified from the first meeting are already underway, and the group has... decided to meet again in the next few weeks to discuss the progress made. If your club or group was unable to attend yesterday’s meeting, and would like more information about the project, please contact [email protected] so we can send you some details. 13.01.2022 To help keep everyone Covid-safe, it is now mandatory to wear masks at Newman Airport. If you are travelling to, dropping off or meeting a passenger at the airport, you will be required to wear a mask. Please bring your own mask where you can. National Cabinet announced that wearing of masks is now mandatory in all airports and on aircraft. Let's keep each other safe.

06.01.2022 The Aquatic Centre has had a huge response to booking swimming lessons and have a lot of messages. If you have contacted the centre and haven't heard back yet, don't worry, they know about your message and will get back to you as soon as they can.
02.01.2022 RECYCLING is simple! It’s about putting all these 5 items into the recycling bin at home: Plastic bottles and containers Glass bottles and jars Steel and aluminium Cans Paper... Cardboard Nothing else, all these 5 and only these 5. The Shire is conducting audits of what is going into Newman’s recycling bins each fortnight, and contamination is still very high. Some of the main contaminants identified are bagged waste, garden clippings, hoses, textiles and Styrofoam. Help us get on track by recycling ‘just the 5’! The best recyclers have a recycling tub next to the kitchen bin. In the kitchen it’s easy to separate, remove lids, rinse and recycle.
