25.01.2022 Another reason why SFF parliamentary seats are important and how you, the voter, decide your preference votes otherwise traditional and cultural values and regional communities will no longer exists.

24.01.2022 Australia is on the brink of an environmental disaster yet there appears to be little support given to hunters who are actively saving millions of endangered species, one feral cat at a time. Hunters, the true conservationists, don’t just talk about it, or commission yet another report - they just do it. On the ground real effective action. What do you think should be happening. Are hunters supported enough? https://www.dailymail.co.uk//Enormous-feral-cat-captured-d

23.01.2022 The liberal government budget has big infrastructure spend, however where is the funding and resourcing for ongoing preventive health, support services and other essential services in regional and rural communities. What would you like to have seen delivered this budget

23.01.2022 what a great Movember initiate from the crew at Spot on Fishing Tackle - The Fishing Connectionhttps://fb.watch/1IJ5nYg6OQ/

21.01.2022 Truckers are real salts of the earth, they travel incredible distances day and night to connect farmers, producers to the end consumer. The Tassie Convey for Kids usually ends at Sorell for the South East Sun Truck Show. Show your support if you can

21.01.2022 Br interesting to listen to the senate inquiry. Tasmanian fallow deer are a game species providing significant value to the region, just like our wild brown trout. SFF do not support deer or trout eradication, their cultural, social and economic value are significant.

20.01.2022 The personal sacrifice made should never be underestimated

19.01.2022 You have to wonder at times what goal the Invasive Species Council is trying to achieve and whether they really care about the cute, fluffy animals they use to entice donations from you! As far as we can tell, the main species they are targeting here in Tasmania are wild fallow, brown trout and the recreational hunters who currently help manage them. The council want deer and trout to be reclassified as feral. They want to see the complete eradication of both these species fr...Continue reading

19.01.2022 What the duck is going on in Victoria? Today, the Animal Justice Party fired yet another shot at hunters in Victoria when they floated a bill to ban #duckseaso...n2021. Add this to the bill they have already put forward to radically rewrite the Animal Welfare Act in Victoria and it doesn't take a genius to recognise old mate Daniel Andrews has sold hunters down the river in return for AJP votes. Find out more about this bill and how you can fight in by clicking the link. It's time for hunters to unite. Let's stand together and fight this direct assault on our way of life. https://iamhunter.net//duck-hunting-under-threat-in-victo/ #duckhunting #whattheduck #hunting #huntingvictoria #duckhunt

19.01.2022 Now who doesn’t like a bit of friendly competition. Good luck to those taking part.

18.01.2022 When the work is outsourced outside of Australia it’s not really Australian manufacturing. How do you think this state government has handled the TT line Spirit replacement process?

15.01.2022 Make note of the public forums and have your voices heard

14.01.2022 Across Australia rural and regional news is being lost and now King Island courier gone. Independent news unfortunately being replaced by global news outlets and online platforms https://www.abc.net.au//king-island-courier-news/12879962

12.01.2022 SFF has been on the record calling for a revisit to the risk assessment model to fruit fly. More must be done to prevent a fruit fly incursion.

10.01.2022 A royal commission was long overdue and this positive step forward into protecting the most vulnerable, the children, Tasmanians future. https://www.abc.net.au//tasmania-commission-of-in/12910098

09.01.2022 Some commonsense feedback made to Senate inquiry yesterday. Already Tasmanian land owners have a range of tools available to manage browsing animals, declassification is not one of them, property based deer management if recognised and adopted more broadly would allowing hunters into wilderness areas to remove the few stragglers. Wild Fallow Tasmanian deer are a valued species and deserve the respect and value as our wild brown trout. The economic value of sustainable hunting should not be underestimated or ignored. One really has to question why feral cats, which add no value don't receive the same level of government scrutiny and funding?

08.01.2022 This Christmas why not lend a helping hand.

07.01.2022 In today’s Mercury newspaper we see again Mr.Cox, Invasive Species Council, a charitable not for profit organisation making deliberately misleading and misguided ideological comments. SFF realises and acknowledges Tasmanian fallow deer are a valuable, natural resource the same as our wild brown trout. For some to claim they are a state wide pest undermines the cultural, social and economic value. Wild deer numbers are not exploding across the state, that mischievous comment... has been called out many times over - they are and should be a managed natural resource. Interestingly too, Mr. Cox ignores the real elephants in the room, farmers are struggling with millions of grazing wallaby and possums and other more pressing issues such as the devastating impacts of feral cats and the terribly sad effects of toxoplasmosis and lose of endangered native animals. Wild Fallow deer are not the number 1 enemy or even number 2,3, or even 4 to Tasmanian farmers. Wild fallow deer in Tasmania are important part of Tasmania’s wild life and history. Those who advocate otherwise have no respect for regional communities, cultural or traditional values. SFF does not support declassification of wild deer or the use of 1080 poison and we certainly don’t support wild deer or wild trout eradication. The benefits of hunting tourism should not be underestimated and yet tourism is slow to promote our wild brown trout fisheries and wild fallow deer. Now if hunters were also afforded the ability to bow hunt and use sound moderators in WHA, well we all know the benefits of hunting conservation. We will keep educating the misinformed and ask you to continue to voice your opinions. Keep contacting your local MP and writing letters to the newspapers. See more

05.01.2022 Your going to need a bigger boat. 50, 000 salmon escaped from HAC in the Huon River when pen was burnt . Sounds suspicious, especially with the recent arson attacks around the place. If more information becomes available we will endeavour to keep you informed
