22.01.2022 Whether you are going through a communication challenge or not, I believe these inspiring stories are relatable and applicable when faced with challenges in lif...e. A conversation close to my heart as I recently shared why I wrote Paralyzed. Australia recently celebrated Speech Pathology Week with a focus on communicating with confidence, during this time of awareness and education I wanted to bring individuals together to share experiences, exchange ideas, and ask questions. I am very proud to share a glimpse of it here, in the hope that anyone going through a similar journey may find something useful in it. A HUGE thank you to my incredible speech therapist Therese Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology who is a total inspiration, a warrior woman for so many. And the amazing Tim Kittel, who is the President of Speech Pathology Australia, thank you for your time and guidance, and to everyone who joined the call - thank you for opening your hearts and sharing your inspiring stories of strength and resilience. Go to https://speechpathologyaustralia.org.au/ if you’d like to learn more and check out the end of the video for some very useful links and check out the full video here: youtu.be/nJRHqG36k8o

20.01.2022 Prisca and Harika are 4th year Occupational Therapy students from La Trobe University. The students are currently completing their final 8-week placement at Talkativity before entering the profession as OT graduates. "Through this experience, we have adapted to a new service delivery model Telehealth, and navigated away from the traditional practice of providing a face to face service. We've developed the type of language and communication skills to use with children, we've... learned new ways of implementing activities that are creative and engaging and we've practiced the application of conducting an evidence-based and family centred program." The team at Talkativity have thoroughly enjoyed supporting Prisca and Harika and wish them all the best! #talkativity #occupationaltherapy #placementstudents #latrobeuniversity

17.01.2022 There’s a real wombat stew of emotions bubbling away for Victorians at the moment- with lashings of worry, frustration and disappointment in the mix. May we all have strong helpings of determination, resolve and hope too. We can do this.

16.01.2022 We have been speaking up to make sure that informal respite support is available for families with children with disability under the stage 3 and 4 restrictions.... We can now confirm that children with disability in Metro Melbourne and Regional Victoria can: Go to a relative’s or family friend’s home for care, including overnight care. This must be a pre-existing arrangement. Travel more than 5km and travel during curfew to get to the relative or family friend. Relatives and family friends can also come to your home to assist with the care of children with disability. This is allowed under the care and compassionate grounds.

14.01.2022 Thanks Frankston Arts Centre! We have many industrious inventors in our community. I hope some of you can make it. Have some fun, get your fingers moving and brain flexing.

13.01.2022 Iconic works of art are now accessible to everyone. National Gallery of Victoria have partnered with Description Victoria to create detailed audio descriptions ...of artworks from the NGV collection. 13.01.2022 We, and many of you, are very concerned about the planned Independent Assessment process for NDIS. Before this system has even been rolled out beyond the trial site, the AAT (the tribunal responsible for resolving conflicts with the NDIA and NDIS participants) has dismissed the validity of independent assessments. What this will mean for the future of independent assessments we will need to wait and see. It’s certainly a step in the right direction.

12.01.2022 When are we returning to face to face services? The short answer is, we don't have a date, and we don't know when we will set a date. Here's what we do know: * we will always prioritise the long term health and safety of our community, including our team, over short term discomfort * any urgent services are still being provided, even if these need to be face to face.... * where face to face services are necessary, these will be with a suitable clinician, however your regular clinician may not be available. * we are working with our team, and some schools, to hopefully return to some schools in term 3. Please be mindful this is a process, and we are not in a position to provide promises or discuss details of this as yet. We promise, as soon as we have something confirmed, the people who need to know, will know. In the meantime, here is what you can do: Share your feedback with our management team: https://form.jotform.com/200163850786861 Request a risk review if you feel your urgent needs are not currently being met: https://form.jotform.com/201608036170849 Let us know your circumstances have changed: https://form.jotform.co/93298167993881

11.01.2022 We can confirm that home visits for caregiving do not count towards your one household visit each day. This means if a friend or relative is visiting your ho...me to help care for your child, you can still visit another home or have another family come to visit on the same day. Your child can also go to a friend or relative's home for respite care, which doesn't count towards the one household visit per day either. It's especially important to keep your home COVID-Safe when anyone comes to visit. Here are some tips from the Department of Health and Human Services on how to prepare: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19-home-safet
