12.01.2022 Congratulations Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor on a brilliant victory!
11.01.2022 Today is national TAFE day, and I caught up with Damien who's the Vice President of the Australian Education Union to talk about the importance of training and ...skills. TAFE is the way out of our economic decline. Only a Labor Government will provide free TAFE courses for students across the building and construction, aged care and disability services sectors to help give Tasmanians the chance to get a foot in the door to get a good job.AEU #IsupportTAFE #nationalTAFEday
10.01.2022 Congrats South Australian Young Labor on joining us in the call for full employment & a job guarantee!
09.01.2022 Today is a day to celebrate! The Legislative Council voted unanimously in support of Voluntary Assisted Dying. It's disappointing to hear that the Premier has... decided that the debate won't be completed in the House of Assembly until next year, but I am still confident that the bill will be supported. Congratulations to Dying with Dignity Tasmania, Your Choice TAS, and all those who have advocated for so long for compassion and choice. And to Mike Gaffney and his team for the power of work involved in bringing this bill to the Parliament, as well as all those who have paved the way through Parliament for us to get to where we are today. Thank you.

08.01.2022 Today I put in a submission to the Inquiry into the North West COVID-19 outbreak on behalf of Tasmanian Labor. This inquiry is so important - it’s not about fi...nding someone to blame, it’s about learning from the experiences of the North West of Tasmania, and making sure we are prepared to deal with any future infectious disease outbreak in the best way possible. If you would like to read our submission, you’ll find a link in the comments.
08.01.2022 The Liberals & Greens team up to vote against the safety of Tasmanians. Cheers guys

05.01.2022 BREAKING: Federal Education Minister, Dan Tehan, announces that students will lose their access to the HELP/HECS Scheme if they don't perform in their studies. ...This mornings announcement means that if a student fails to progress sufficiently in their degree, they will lose access to the HECS scheme, having to pay upfront fees to continue to study or leave their degree. NUS rejects the assertion from Minister Tehan that this package is taking action to protect students and taxpayers. An overwhelming majority of domestic students rely entirely on the HECS system to study. Limited access to study, financial instability, education quality, disability, and the ongoing crisis of mental health in the student body are just some of the impediments to student success. These are issues that are often unreported and receive inadequate support from tertiary institutions or The Government. Students will have the future of their study taken away from them unless they prove to the university or the government, institutions that systematically fail to support young people, that they are struggling. the Job-Ready Graduate Package is promoting a pay for play higher education sector that will put extreme pressure on students to succeed at universities. It is an agenda to incentivize success through fear of punishment, which will only harm the wellbeing and success of our students. See our full statement here: https://twitter.com/NUS_President/status/1293688768642211840 Angry about this? Students will be coming together (online and in person where able) to fight against the continued attacks on education on August 28th. 03.01.2022 In today’s Mercury Newspaper, Eric Abetz doubles down on his pathetic, racist remarks about the Black Lives Matter Protests citing deranged theories about Marxism and a left pile on. This is a man who has led the Liberal Senate ticket election after election and is expected to do the same in 2022. Let’s be clear, if the Tasmanian Liberals reinstate Eric Abetz as #1 on the Senate ticket they are supporting racism, lies, and extreme right propaganda. ... Abetz must go.
02.01.2022 BREAKING: Tasmanian Young Labor has joined Young Labor for Full Employment in calling on the Labor Party to adopt in its platform a job guarantee for all Australians!
02.01.2022 Today marks 45 years since the 1975 Whitlam Dismissal. Gough Whitlam was a Prime Minister for every Australian, whose unjust dismissal changed the course of Australia forever. His legacy and achievements from his short time in government will not be forgotten.
