25.01.2022 Hi, I’m Tim Reed and I’m also a Huskyolic. I started on Husky young. Large doses of intense racing in the age group ranks progressed to even more frequent and intense racing in Husky as a pro. A win only made the cravings greater until an interventional run battle with @petejjacobs discharging a 1.06 20km run split left me licking my wounds and I managed to kick the Husky habit. 21.01.2022 For the bulk of my pro career I had a shoe sponsor. Aside from the money, as a guy who likes to test everything if I have lots of options, it was a peaceful time running in shoes I was more than happy with. Then we entered the dark Nike driven era of carbon plates, drastic changes to foam and more. Overnight, many pros wouldn’t sign with a shoe brand unless there was seriously coin being thrown at them to offset the potential time lost on the run if they cushion be in ‘super shoes’. I went down a rabbit hole of testing lots of shoes. 21.01.2022 3rd at #IM703Geelong. Probably the best race Ive pulled off in the peak of an Ironman build so relatively chuffed. Still lacking some ‘pop’ on the run but confident that will come back later in the year with specific 70.3 training. Hugely proud of the performance from @stevemckenna_ to take the win. Congrats @trent_thorpe on 2nd and fellow @trekbikes ambassador @elliesalthouse1 on another victory in the women’s race. Thanks to the @ironmanoceania team for making this event h...appen with the delay and all the COVID restrictions. A huge undertaking. 18.01.2022 3rd place @hotwtri. Great battle with @stevemckenna_ and @simon_hearn. Lacking a little match fitness late in the run but that’s why I was here. Both @stevemckenna_ and I came into this under some heavy training load but it didn’t seem to affect the young bastard in the slightest. Congrats on another great win Steve. Kudos to Simon for 2nd and @trent_thorpe for a very courageous race imploding in spectacular fashion 1km from the line. 13.01.2022 Came away from watching two blokes who’ve never cycled beyond a leisurely commute, grit their teeth through two days of sunrise to sunset pedaling over evil terrain, incredibly inspired. A nice reminder of what the body can achieve if the mind gets out of the way. A two wheeled adventure I won’t forget. 13.01.2022 Workout Wednesday: A session I regularly used when training for the Ironman World Champs as an amateur way back in 2009. I didn’t have time with work to do a mid week ride/run so I would find time efficient ways to induce cycling muscular fatigue before key run sessions. Main Set: 2 minute static wall squat. 2km easy run. Repeat and increase run intensity slightly (approx 5 bpm) each round until you’re really honking along for final few. I would typically build this run from 4 rounds to 10 rounds over 5-6 weeks. @koruptvision #workoutwednesday #triathlon #ironman #bricksession #imwc #running

10.01.2022 Result wasn’t great but I was really happy with the performance today. Had to do much of the 80kms in one gear but when the course suited that gear I was pedaling good numbers. Would like to blame 2020 but it was my fault for not putting a fresh battery in the blip box. Actually let’s just blame 2020. Got through the ride and put in a really hard effort on the run. Nice sprint finish with @eddievining for 5th/6th. The big fella got me! Massive congrats to @stevemckenna_ for the win. Such a pleasure to coach such talent. Thanks to @hervey_bay_100 crew, the locals here and the @professionaltriathletesorg . 03.01.2022 Time to set up the body for 2021 and take some down time. As much as I would love to go to Daytona and the @professionaltriathletesorg have done so much to help us get there, as an Aussie it’s still a real tricky one. I also know to be competitive amongst such a world class field I have to remove myself from the home environment and do a training camp. With hotel quarantine on return that’s probably 6-8 weeks away from the family that I couldn’t handle right now. As a fan as ...much as an athlete I still can’t wait to follow the battle. It doesn’t look like it on paper but it’s been a huge year of training throwing my self completely into two Ironman Australia preps with both races obviously then cancelled and a very short but intense Ironman Cairns prep as it dawned on us that the race was actually going ahead. A year from a racing perspective I would rather forget. However, in other ways I’m so glad for 2020. It gave me so much more time at home, so much more time with my kids and a renewed appreciation for what’s most important. The support from my sponsors has been incredible.
