23.01.2022 Here's a s snapshot of the fishing in Lake Strobel Argentina. Massive rainbow trout, don't think there is another trout fishery in the world that comes close to size and number of fish encountered here. Hopefully I will get to fish it again one day. BTW biggest fish was 6.7kg

21.01.2022 Mayfly magic, the perfect day on Penstock Lagoon #troutflatout #troutfishtasmania #trout #troutguides #troutguiding #dryfly #mayflyhatch #flyfishing #troutfishing #browntroutflyfishing #welovetassie #goprohero7 #gopro

19.01.2022 Bronte Lagoon turned it on for us on Monday, despite the wind rain and hail. Zac had some tuition on the fly rod and did some lure fishing as well. Five fish for the day despite the changeable weather

18.01.2022 The Guides Fly Box, The Deadly Duo. These two fished as a tandem rig is almost unfair. The Crusty Caddis should be fished about 12 inches under the Guide Tag. I use these predominantly early season in the shallow lake margins. First light when the fish are tailing in close is optimal. The Custy Caddis gets most of the fish. However if there is fly life on the water the dry gets a lot of takes also. Other opportunities to fish them are on warm days with no specific hatch but the fish are rising. With a little wind about the dry forces the Crusty Caddis to jig up and down under the surface as the Guide Tag rides the waves. #troutfishtasmania #troutguides #troutguidetasmania #troutflies #trout #flyfishing

16.01.2022 A few memorable days from the season

16.01.2022 Tough day on a flooded discoloured river, but a happy client with a big smile for his small but first brown trout

14.01.2022 First day trip for the season, Little Pine Lagoon. Wind chill factor -5c and no fish

11.01.2022 Don't just think about it, do it

10.01.2022 Dori, Sarah an Bec at Penstock Lagoon learning the art of Fly Fishing

10.01.2022 The Guides Fly Box, the Mayflies will gradually start hatching soon. This is my version of the shaving brush emerger. I leave a few longer deer hair fibres poking out toward the hook end to imitate the legs. Try to cast it quickly to fish that have just risen to a natural, within 1.5m upwind of the rise and let it dead drift. Theses imitate the hatching mayfly that drifts slowly, can't fly or swim. I have often seen the fly and the natural floating within inches of each other and the shaving brush gets taken more often than the natural. (Not to used while shaving)

09.01.2022 The one that got away

07.01.2022 The Trout season will soon start in Tasmania. This means get busy tying the usual suspects on the vice. Here are three of my favourite patterns, Crusty Caddis, Dee Tag and the Hairy Legged Shave and little blurb on each.

06.01.2022 That perfect day, the fly fishermans dream when you catch so many trout you lose count. The mayfly hatch was only mediocre but the weather was perfect and the fish were hungry. Flies used, shaving brush emerger and para dun #troutguiding #troutflatout #dryfly #troutbum #mayflyhatch #shavingbrush #troutfishtasmania #trout

05.01.2022 A recent visit to the Western Lakes checking out Howes Bay Lagoon and Carter Lakes, i only got to cast to two fish and both refused my offering. I will return though

04.01.2022 First guiding trip of the season, high dirty water but we still caught a couple

04.01.2022 It's a great day when someone catches their first trout on the dry fly. A reasonable Dun hatch Little Pine Lagoon and Geoff lands a couple on the shaving brush fly

01.01.2022 Last client for the season a few weeks back. Caught a good brace of Brown's from a flooded river. A #14 black bead head nymph under an indicator did the trick
