22.01.2022 Join me for an evening of nourishing yin, welcoming the shift of seasons

21.01.2022 Started my week on a high note this morning Working with children is exceptionally rewarding, if often challenging. This morning my @yipee_childrensyoga class at Emali had me all smiles from the get go. . Ive been teaching yoga at the centre all year and a child who has never participated in a group activity (not just yoga, ANY activity), struggles with communication and general interaction voluntarily came and sat next to me to join the class, he asked me to take his shoes off (not just allowed, asked- both being a BIG deal for him), and participated in the whole class with a huge smile on his face needless to say the smiles on the carers and myself match. . Yoga is magic for adults and children alike. Its such a privilege to share this practice

14.01.2022 Magic and science "Throughout the course of life, you accumulate tension in all of these layers, and unless released, this tension is a persistent and subconscious experience you will carry into every aspect of life. Its so deep and ever-present that it can confuse you into thinking that the negative situations you are experiencing, like anxiety and depression, are who you actually are. In order to shift the experience of anxiety, depression, and PTSD and return to our na...tural state of wholeness and peace, we must support the nervous system in returning to a parasympathetic state, learn to disassociate from limiting thoughts and addictive emotions, and release residual tension." 07.01.2022 ~INVERSION~ An inversion is most generally categorised as any asana in which the head is below the heart. While Headstand, Handstand, Forearm Stand and Shoulder Stand immediately come to mind, there are gentler variations that may be more accessible for students early on in their inversion relationship: Downward Dog, Standing Forward Folds, Legs Up the Wall and Happy Baby are lovely ways in which to get things moving in new directions without jumping into the deep end. . Inve...rsions improve circulation, increase immunity, energise, relax, improve balance, bring new perspective and are simply fun. . Getting your head down lower than your heart has a cooling, calming effect on your nervous system. . Lets play this week, . Vinyasa: Tuesday 7.30am @theyogacentre Tuesday 6pm @fleurieu yoga Thursday 6.30am @victoriaroseyoga Friday 9.30am @peakphysiquenoarlunga See more

07.01.2022 ~QUESTIONS~ I love them! Heres the thing, there are no stupid questions except the ones you dont ask. Always at the end of practice I invite questions, I love it when students ask me questions about things that came up for them in class. Do you ever make a shape and wonder what you are supposed to be feeling or why you are feeling something? Oftentimes in a group class you might not feel comfortable asking, you can take note and ask later, but talk to your teacher! Yoga i...s different for EVERY BODY. Most often the question will come back to you. What are/were you feeling, what are your goals, what are you working with/on/for? Of course asana have intentions but the poses can be modified to suit YOUR intentions, YOUR body, its YOUR practice. . . . #questions #answers #asana #yogaasana #itsyourbody #itsyourpractice #yogaisforeverybody #yogaeveryday #goals See more

06.01.2022 ~DREAMING~ of summer, exploration and play. Staying present and positive in winter for me is a practice in itself. Dont get me wrong, I love elements of the cool months (yes please roaring fire, hot baths and books on rainy days) but my mind often wanders to barefoot days and summertime bliss. My mood is often affected by the weather, my yoga practice keeps me grounded and accepting of what is (no escaping to the sun this July). Im especially loving my hot practices (Change... what you can, accept what you cant). So grateful for this life. . Does the weather affect you? Do you have a favourite season? What do you love about winter? . . . #yogaeverywhere #yogaeveryday #sunshine #winter #weatherchange #acceptance #exploration #selfstudy #moods #hotyoga #dreaming See more

05.01.2022 ~FESTIVE SEASON SPECIAL~ Sorry, theres no wine... . With only four weeks to go until Christmas (yes, eek) I thought you might be in need of a gentle reminder to take some time out for yourself. .... Taking care of yourself allows you to take better care of those around you and, lets be honest, we all need a little extra at this time of year. . Thursday Sunrise Flow classes are running at my home studio for the next four weeks (including tomorrow!). Casual classes are $15 or, if youd like a little self care package, a four class pass for the remainder of the year (!!) is just $50. . . Hope to see you on the mat soon. See more
