21.01.2022 WE ARE DESPERATE PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ We currently do not have enough volunteers to run our local Ambulance Service This does vary daily, and som...e days we have enough people, but often theres only one person available and thats our Community Paramedic. THATS NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE SURE AN AMBULANCE IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE IN AN EMERGENCY! This is a SERIOUS issue for the WHOLE community. DO THE BEST POSSIBLE THING YOU CAN FOR YOUR COMMUNITY HELP OTHERS IN NEED! If you have a drivers licence and a police clearance you CAN help us maintain this vital service PLEASE get on board! You dont have to be available all of the time we need MANY people to just give a LITTLE of their time to provide this 24hr service. Just a few hours a week can be life saving! TRAINING NIGHTS Monday nights at 5pm at the Wyndham sub centre is open for training and a catch up please call in and say Hi, meet some of our Awesome Ambos and our amazing Community Paramedic Simon. ALL YOUR TRAINING and UNIFORM ARE SUPPLIED! There are no out of pocket expenses. These are skills that you keep for a lifetime! You will not be thrown in the deep end thanks to the support of our Community Paramedic. Progress at your own pace starting as a driver is essential, after all AMBULANCES CANT DRIVE THEMSELVES!! Do you think its not something you could do? That it would take too much time? That theres simply no way you would do ambulance work? THATS EXACTLY WHAT I USED TO SAY BEFORE JOINING yet myself and many others over the years that have joined, trained and received supervised experience over time now have SKILLS and CONFIDENCE I never thought possible! https://stjohnwa.com.au/changelives A FEW COMMON QUESTIONS ANSWERED I have a weak stomach, do I have to attend yucky jobs? As mentioned above, youll never be thrown in the deep end. Plus, those kind of jobs you think we attend every day are VERY RARE! The majority of our work is transferring people to Kununurra Hospital. Join up, learn through training, start doing just transfers to Kununurra or non-emergency local jobs, and then see where your confidence takes you. Do I have to sit at the depot waiting for calls during a shift? NO. Being on call is just that, and like other country locations we operate a work from home roster. Your contacted for jobs either by the Community Paramedic, your Volunteer Ambulance Officer crew mate, or a mobile phone provided for when youre on duty. We run a standard day shift, night shift roster but we can ACCOMMODATE YOUR AVAILABILITY. Will I be out all day/night when on shift? Unlikely. Just because youre on call doesnt mean you will attend a job. In fact, if everyone is safe and healthy you wont get a call at all! Lack of call outs (thankfully, for our community) is the reason we train weekly, to ensure were as up to date as possible with all of our skills. So, why not join up today? Theres so much to gain, and we need more of our community to help out. We need those who CARE ABOUT WYNDHAM to join. We need LOCALS to become the backbone of the service If I did it, ANYONE can do it! I love volunteering and the interaction with my community it gives me. 02.01.2022 Hi all We have some changes at the Supermarket starting on Tuesday 31st March We are working hard to keep our community & staff as safe as we possibly can. ... Shop hours from Tuesday next week will be 7am - 11am 2pm - 6pm Monday to Friday WE WILL BE CLOSED FOR 3 HOURS between 11am & 2pm. This will allow us to to give the shop a thorough sanitise between shifts. Weekend hours Saturday & Sunday 9am - 2pm We ask that you nominate one person from your household to do the shopping. Please do not bring children unless absolutely necessary. Please try & come to the shop only once a day. Dont come to the shop if you are feeling sick. Payment with a card is preferred Practise social distancing, wash your hands. We request your patience & understanding as we make these changes.
