25.01.2022 Being very busy in the workroom at present creating some boho/shabby lampshades. I love working with doilies, remnant lace and bits and pieces of jewellery, beads and crystals. I especially love creating something new and beautiful out of things other people throw away......the broken and the damaged live and are useful again.

25.01.2022 Finished! Another 'Mischief Managed' set for a customer who missed out on the last one I made. This time thought I'd use a different colour and used Made By Paint's 'Aubergine' to pick up on the colour in Marauders Map upholstery fabric, which is also decoupaged onto a glass tea light cover. Along with the little footprints I've included those of Mrs Norris this time as well.

25.01.2022 Whew, lamp shade number 4 done and dusted! This one has so much bling you need sunnies to look at it #shabbychic #shabbychicdecor #bohostyle #love #photooftheday #lovemyjob #rainbohemiansoul

24.01.2022 Easter Eggs....these wont make you put on a single gram of weight, promise!! I hand paint real duck and goose eggs so theyre a permanent collectible and no two are exactly alike. These eggs have quite thick walls, unlike hens eggs, and have been emptied and sterilised before painting and sealing so the colours remain stable. The larger ones are $30 each and the smaller ones $25 and the photos include numbers with the prices so you can easily identify which ones youd li...ke. Little gold stands are $2 each and Im happy to post at buyers expense and negotiate on prices for multiple purchases. Please PM me when ordering so I can keep track of whos who. **UPDATE**: Eggs # 18, 7, 1, 5 and 3 all sold. Eggs # 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 20 plus five gold-tone egg stands are all now available at Trevallan Lifestyle Centre. I have no more gold-tone stands available to post. See more

24.01.2022 I am very fortunate to have the wonderful support of the beautiful ladies as Trevallan Lifestyle Centre who stock many of my handmade items, including these fun painted stones. Postage is available, or better still go out and visit Trevallan yourself and immerse yourself in the beautiful outdoor area and wonderful gift shop.

24.01.2022 I’ve been meaning to do something with this papier mache doctors plague mask and thought today might be as good a time as any. Remembered to take a ‘before’ shot this time.

23.01.2022 These two arrived as a pair and I didnt have the heart to separate them, so they will stay as an almost matching pair. Each has a lovely vintage brooch with pink stones and an assortment of other pink crystals and clear diamontes all displayed on a backing of carefully selected vintage doilies and lace. Can you imagine these as bedside lamps in a romantic feminine bedroom? #rainbohemiansoul #shabbychic #shabbychicdecor #lovemyjob #love #photooftheday

22.01.2022 Work in progress on the Cabinet of Curiosities - in two minds whether to paint or not, so everything just being put in with BluTac for now to see how it looks. #rainbohemiansoul #love #bohostyle

21.01.2022 Was so very surprised to see my art featured as part of an Artist in Focus post for the wonderful Trevallan Lifestyle Centre. The place is a beautiful little gem with the most fantastic vibe and I knew this was the right place for what I create as soon as I saw it. Just being there for even a few minutes is relaxing with the wonderful plants outside, the treasures inside and the warmth of the ladies who run it. And in this time of drought and dying landscape and gardens, it really is a sight for sore eyes and a reminder of what we risk losing if we arent careful.

21.01.2022 For artists, 'home isolation' means more time to do projects often put off in busier times......this week I was eyeing a little very sad Hardy Bros cutlery box I'd acquired with a lot of old cutlery and other vintage/antique bits and bobs. The box is not solid timber, just laminate which had peeled off in places, so I realised I could never sell it on. But still, couldn't bring myself to throw it out so this was the week it got a makeover.....voila, lovely little thing now ...lined with decoupage and then had the idea of filling it with little origami boxes to hold 'stuff'.........stuff that turned out to be my collection of wooden buttons. I'm hoping to find a key that fits the little lock too....don't feel like picking all those buttons up off the floor if the lid flips open! To everyone 'self isolating' it's a good time to look around and see what can be given the Cinderella treatment around the house! See more

18.01.2022 This time I DID take proper before shots of my just completed side table made at the owners request to complement the Hogwarts rocking chair she purchased last year. This style of furniture has such elegant lines with that beautiful sweep of the four legs terminating in those stylised claw feet. But do take note of what happens when you leave wet pot plants on vintage furniture.....

18.01.2022 Lovely blue egg ready for her new home to brighten up a corner or sit sparkling on a windowsill in the sun. $65 plus P&P....payment via PayPal, PayID or Beemit

18.01.2022 Ive been meaning to do something with this papier mache doctors plague mask and thought today might be as good a time as any. Remembered to take a before shot this time.

17.01.2022 Ive been spending Easter doing something Ive had in mind for a while now. I bought a beautiful dress mannequin and have dressed her entirely in offcuts and rejects from a local bridal dressmaker, plus some Vinnies and cheap auction grab bag jewellery....very boho I must say. Small problem....our two huge Maine Coon cats think shes been made just for them as a toy to be played with and swiped at! Everything has been pinned onto her but I can see myself actually sewing something like this.

17.01.2022 Finally got around to making something out of broken jewellery and odd bits and pieces of beading. Had some papier-mch eggs and thought Id give them the Faberge treatment. Nice to see something that was given away as junk still doing their job of just being gorgeous.

17.01.2022 Finally! Work has commenced on the Cabinet of Curiosities. This should keep me off the streets for a while........watch this space! #cabinetofcuriosities #rainbohemiansoul #love #bohemianstyle

17.01.2022 Still three spots left for this Saturday's Dream Catcher Workshop.....just follow this link and sign up to join me and some new friends for an 'artsy fartsy' morning! http://www.trevallan.com/dream-catcher-workshop/

17.01.2022 Six beautiful vintage/boho lampshades have landed at the very eclectic and interesting shop Trsor maison in Warwick today. If you need a little corner of your world lit up with an exquisite confection of sparkle, bling and lace get out there and snaffle one up...and have a good look around this gorgeous shop run by a really lovely lady. As she says on her business page...Treat yourself.

17.01.2022 OMG, this is so much trickier than I thought.....it’s like trying to decorate a series of miniature rooms that are different but connected....this is take 2, but I’m about to shut the workroom for the evening and no doubt tomorrow I’ll want to change it all again! #rainbohemiansoul #bohostyle #love

16.01.2022 With the recent fires causing road closures preventing distribution of our little treasures, Ive decided to make a few lapel pins to complement the hat pins Ive already made. Id intended to make more hat pins, but the new pin blanks were much shorter than expected, so lapel pins they now are! The very shortest one on the bottom right hand corner with the blue crystal and little thistle shaped crown is actually a vintage pin from the 1920/30s Ive dolled up a bit...I think she looks perfect.

15.01.2022 Whilst waiting for glue to cure on other commission pieces that need some repair before decorating, thought Id have a go at this lovely old chair. What to do? Fabric quite old fashioned and doesnt sing but before tearing it apart to reupholster thought Id give it a last chance with some updating with a complementary paint colour. This is beautiful "Renfrew Blue" by Fusion Mineral paints.

14.01.2022 Success! Cut my first ever emu egg in half, no breakage. Slow and steady wins the day. Now to research how on earth to line it nicely......watch this space.

13.01.2022 I have finally finished the Faberge inspired eggs Ive been working on for the past few weeks. All have been covered with little treasures such as crystal beads, pearls, buttons, shells, jewellery items and found objects. Each one carries at least one vintage jewellery piece, and on some these are removable for wearing if one wishes. Vintage jewellery may have missing gems as they are as found, and in some cases the value of the vintage piece alone has almost the same retail value as the entire item. They range in price from $30 to $65 each, plus postage and packing, depending on what embellishments have been used.

13.01.2022 Currently working on these gorgeous little Faberge style eggs made out of remnant beaded lace, vintage jewellery, crystals and beads......lots of sparkle for the inner bower-bird! #bohochic #bohostyle #bohoaustralia #boho #bohodecor

12.01.2022 A post on another page this morning reminded me why I create things and have this little business......this poem influenced me deeply as a reminder that, although in the Bible this quote refers to the Word of God, nevertheless Man does not live by bread alone. If, of thy mortal goods, thou art bereft, And from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left,... Sell one & from the dole, Buy Hyacinths to feed the soul" - Muslihuddin Sadi, 13th Century Persian Poet So thats what I do, make hyacinths to feed souls.

11.01.2022 One day I shall have a large studio in which to spread out all the different types of things I like to create, fix and repurpose. But for now I do love opening the door to my little art space on a sunny morning with the sun happily sparkling on all the little treasures on the workbench.

10.01.2022 I have finally finished the Faberge inspired eggs I've been working on for the past few weeks. 09.01.2022 Picked up these two sorting trays a few weeks back and today was the day to get them cleaned up ready for decorating- still deciding what exactly theyre wanting for their new life as beautiful things for the home. One set is cleaned but the other still untouched and showing the effects of being left outdoors for years. I feel these promise to be a true Cinderella story when Ive finished with them.

08.01.2022 I have some of my crystal grids at Trevallan Lifestyle Centre and this one has a gorgeous piece of labradorite as the central focus. I love visiting Trevallan and checking out the beautiful plants and gifts at this lovely boutique nursery.

08.01.2022 I think I need a proper workshop......

06.01.2022 OMG, this is so much trickier than I thought.....its like trying to decorate a series of miniature rooms that are different but connected....this is take 2, but Im about to shut the workroom for the evening and no doubt tomorrow Ill want to change it all again! #rainbohemiansoul #bohostyle #love

05.01.2022 Just finished two more boho lampshades and one hanging light shade to brighten up a corner or enhance your boudoir. Lamps #1 and #2 each come complete with safety tagged stand and a globe. These are $95 each plus postage, or can be picked up if preferred. Light shade (#3) is $125 plus postage, or pick up if preferred. All are vintage (#1 and 2) or repurposed (#3), so will will fit right in with the boho vintage aesthetic, but of course therefore show signs of use. N.B. #3 is a hanging lamp shade and was placed onto a lamp base to enable photography. Payment via PayPal or direct bank transfer, please PM for enquiries.

05.01.2022 As promised, Ive turned some lovely old vintage jewelry into hat pins. And here they are!

05.01.2022 Just finished number 3. This shade is far too big for the stand its currently on, but I lit it up just to see how it looks.

05.01.2022 A good friend (thank you Nelly!) suggested people might enjoy some before and after photos of things I do up and restore. Sadly, Im guilty of forgetting to take good before photos, but here are some I do have. Restoring furniture sometimes brings surprises.....such as the horrid rubbish upholsterers from times gone by used for padding chairs.

04.01.2022 Todays Dream Catcher workshop at the beautiful Trevallan Lifestyle Centre @trevallan was great fun with these beautiful ladies, each of whom went home with their very own dream catcher and plenty of great ideas to make more at home for gifts and just because- it was great fun to spend a few hours with these lovely girls. #trevallan #bohostyle #dreamcatchers #ipswichqld #queensland #love #photooftheday

03.01.2022 Another day to catch up with a little personal project whilst contemplating how to approach two new custom orders. This very rough little box was hand made around the 1930s to hold 78 records. I just wanted the box and a friend wanted the records for her old gramophone refurbishment project, so win/win. I love bright colours (in case you hadnt noticed) but this little serious piece seemed to want a more subdued colour, so thought Id try Fusion Mineral paints Renfrew Blue. Did I say blue? At the risk of starting another striped dress internet storm, I see green.......and not the jealousy type. I Restore Stuff....I know you think its green too!!

02.01.2022 Ive always LOVED hat pins, the fancier the better. So, decided to have a go at making some....watch this space because Ill be soon making some using vintage jewellery odds and ends. All will be for sale soon, but first dibs will be offered to the shops that are supporting my little business - Ill update once I know where theyll be or if Im selling them direct. #rainbohemiansoul #shabbychic #hatpins #love #bohostyle

01.01.2022 In late August I will be facilitating a dream catcher making workshop in the gardens of beautiful Trevallan Lifestyle Centre in Brassall, Ipswich. All materials supplied (they will include hoops, vintage doilies, yarn, lace remnants, beads, feathers, natural found objects such as gum nuts and other assorted ephemera). Participants are encouraged to bring any special memory or other object theyd like to include, such as that lovely lorikeet feather round on a walk, interesting seeds and dried plant items, pieces of wedding or baby clothing, that much loved earring missing its pair, grandmas brooch with the missing paste stone languishing in the bottom of a box of stuff. Imperfect things find perfection in the creation of something bigger than themselves.
