25.01.2022 How adorable are these photos from Riddhishas first swimming lesson yesterday! Riddhishas mum noticed that she loved the water so decided it was time to enrol her in swimming lessons. Living locally in Kelmscott, AFAC was a convenient option and mum had heard great things about our instructors. She also appreciated how well suited the centre is for young families. After Riddishas lesson, mum shared with us how friendly and professional she found our instructors and is looking forward to spending some fun family time in the pool!

21.01.2022 Today we want to shine the spotlight on Aroha and the wonderful work that she is doing in our community. As a Customer Service Officer at AFAC and the Armadale Arena, she values being able to share her knowledge and experiences about the various programs that we offer. Recently a local resident named Simone enlisted Aroha's help to put together a netball team for Netball WA's tournament, which would be held during NAIDOC week. Simone had never done anything like this before... so she was grateful for any guidance that Aroha could offer. As a competitive mixed netball player, Aroha was more than happy to coach the team. The KWOBARDAK YORGA'S (beautiful women) were formed and quickly grew to include not 1 but 4 teams consisting of mostly students from our local schools. Although the U16s team went down in the grand final, their heads were held high as one of the girls were crowned MVP at the grand final!

21.01.2022 Today marks International Men's Day. It's an opportunity to celebrate positive male role models in our community and raise awareness of men’s health and wellbeing. Movember is just one of the initiatives that raises awareness of men's health. Movember’s mission is more relevant now than ever with the pandemic affecting the mental health of all of us, including our fathers, partners, brothers, sons and friends. We want to give a special shout out to Graeme and Justin (below) and all of our staff and members who are doing their part to raise awareness of men's health this International Men's Day.

08.01.2022 Thanks for sharing your photos and videos with us Helen! We love learning about what brings our members into the centre and what keeps them motivated to keep returning. As a kid Helen loved to swim but struggled with endurance. She noticed that her boys were experiencing the same thing so she quickly enrolled them in our Swim School. Ive learnt over the years about endurance! Its easy to give up and quit. Ive taken the philosophy, never give up, and dont be a quitter. Dont take the easy way out. I enrolled my kids in Swim School to learn to swim and stick to it for the long haul! They are doing great and have progressed. Its wonderful to watch them each week gain that little bit more confidence than the week before!

Swimming is a huge part of her personal life and water safety is something shes very passionate about so its no surprise that she enjoys teaching others how to swim.
