24.01.2022 We can definitely relate to Gen Y Girl, the twenty something generation are the most stressed and anxious yet. We work ridiculous hours, people expect more from less and we just don’t know how to say no. The Gen Y Girl wrote a blog post about overcoming stress and anxiety in your 20’s and we wanted to share her useful tips with you. They may not be the most revolutionary advise, but it will force you to take time out of your schedule and think about yourself, which for some m...ay a revelation in its self. 1. Get or borrow a pet, because furry friends make our life so much more fun and cuddly. 2. Watch a cartoon from your childhood because it evokes memories from your childhood and a much easier time. 3. Have a couch day and watch re-runs of your favourite TV shows because it will turn your brain off for a while. 4. Get some exercise, even if it just means going for short walk, the fresh air will do you good. 5. Finally, drink tea because it is good for making you stop and appreciate the little things in life. 24.01.2022 The art of being yourself at your best is the art of unfolding yourself into the personality you want to be. Learn to love yourself, be gentle with yourself, to forgive yourself, for only as we have the right attitude toward ourselves can we have the right attitude toward others. ~ Wilfred Peterson

23.01.2022 Start a conversation with someone today. People aren’t always open about their feelings and may not open up unless prompted. It is important to look out for those around you and if you notice changes to their behaviour, they may need someone to confide in. Be relaxed, be supportive and be encouraging.

22.01.2022 After experiencing the lack of services and support offered to those suffering from depression and anxiety first hand, we created a support group focused on providing a positive and encouraging environment. If you need a safe place to share your story, we’d love for you to attend our fortnightly meetings and we can help each other on this journey.

21.01.2022 Around half of Australians will experience mental health problems at some stage in their life and so it is just as important to take care of your mental health, as it is your physical health. Here are some of our suggestions for staying mentally healthy: 1. Ensure you get enough sleep and partake in regular physical activity. 2. Try keeping stress to a reasonable level and accepting when your body needs downtime. 3. Alcohol consumption should be kept to a minimum and ensure y...ou eat a healthy diet. 4. Keep in contact with family and friends and organise to see them regularly. See more

20.01.2022 Our meetings are run by a qualified psychologist and facilitator, allowing you to gain professional help if need be, in a relaxed and friendly environment. We understand that not everyone is able to share his or her journey straight away, but we’d encourage you to still attend a meeting, even if it is just for a cup of tea.

18.01.2022 It's time to talk about men's mental health. Please support this event and help the men in your life stay happy and healthy.

18.01.2022 Reminiscing on good times spent with friends and family has been found to help fight depression and anxiety. Thinking about moments that brought you happiness has the ability to evoke feelings of social safeness and remove negative thoughts. When you feel low, try to step back, make a mental list of all the good things in your life and moments that have made you smile. 13.01.2022 What works for some doesn’t necessarily work for everyone, but we’ve found a few tips that help us battle panic attacks. The AWARE technique is great to follow if you start to feel the onset of an attack: A: Accept the anxiety and don’t try to fight it. W: Watch the anxiety. Imagine it is outside of you and you are observing it. A: ‘Act normal’. Try to carry on as if nothing is happening and your panic will soon ‘get bored’. R: Repeat all of the above steps until you start to... relax. E: Expect the best and it will pass quicker the more times you practice this technique. Have you found any techniques to be particularly helpful? We have also curated more free resources to help you battle anxiety and depression, just come along to our meetings and we can lend a helping hand. See more

12.01.2022 A great event for a great cause! If you have never tried yoga this is a great opportunity, no experience required. Nourish your body, mind and soul :)

12.01.2022 We’re lucky to have some amazing sponsors helping us achieve our goals of providing personal mental health services, but we’re always looking for more people to join the BlueBird team. We’re dedicated to increasing the availability of mental health services in WA and spreading the word so that more people can seek help. As BlueBird is a not-for-profit organisation we rely on the generosity of others to continue our work and if you think that you could help in someway we would be so grateful.

12.01.2022 So grateful that more women are sharing their stories of struggle and triumphs with mental illness, some great reads here! And a reminder that you are not alone and it's okay to say you have anxiety or depression or PTSD or OCD or post natal or whatever - it's really okay! x

08.01.2022 Those who are suffering from anxiety and depression often face discriminatory behaviours and are subject to stigmas. For these reasons, people fear seeking help and continue to suffer in silence. We want to break down the perceptions and labels that surround mental health and encourage those in need to ask for help.

06.01.2022 Raising awareness of adult mental health in Canberra! Thanks to the Rotary Club of Perth and Senator Dean Smith.

04.01.2022 A very talented team from Monash University has developed an app that is able to track the user’s mood over time and support their mental wellbeing. In such a digital age, they hope this app will encourage users to engage with their emotions and feelings. We are so happy that more tools are being made available to overcome mental health issues. 02.01.2022 Great to be a part of this vital discussion around the benefit of support groups and looking after yourself whilst helping others. We can all make a difference!

01.01.2022 the rules of colouring have been broken and many are discussing the calming effects of sitting down with your Crayola pack and colouring in sheet, we wanted to create our own. We believe that the practice of colouring in creates focus in our crazy lives and has the potential to reduce anxiety while forcing us to further explore our feelings. We would love for you to give this colouring in sheet a go and let us know what effect it has on you, we hope its a positive one! https://www.justcolor.net/
