20.01.2022 E A T I N G O U T It's common when people decide to "get fit and healthy", they instantly assume it's about starting a strict diet and not having a social life. I hear I have my friends birthday on the weekend, what should I do? ... My approach is to help my clients realise they can live their best life without having to flip it upside down. There has been lots of research to prove that strict diets are NOT a long term solution and the aftermath can be worse than when you started. So, here are my tips to eating out: 1. Plan your food for the day - If you know you've got something on, manage what you're consuming that day. If you’re out for a big dinner, have a lower calorie breakfast and lunch to save more for dinner. 2. Choose something similar - There’s always something on the menu that may be similar to what you would have at home. There’s always meat and veg or salmon with salad, so if you are worrying about going over your calories - go for those options. 3. Deep fried - Avoid anything deep fried in your meal choices as much as you can. I know it’s very tempting but there are plenty of other tasty options to choose from! 4. Enjoy Yourself. You're human after all - sticking to your calories and macros is key, but if you have a meal that tips you over, DON'T beat yourself up. The extra stress will do more damage than the calories you may go over with. One bad meal will not derail your journey, enjoy the moment and continue on as normal afterwards. The goal to living a healthy lifestyle is having a positive relationship with food - so don’t deprive yourself, and still get results. #nutritionmadeforyou

14.01.2022 T H E G R I N D The (healthy living) journey can sometimes feel long and overwhelming, plus you may have moments of not getting anywhere. It’s so common to be fixated with the scales to validate our success... Yes, scales are one tool to show progress but it’s not the only one! It can be extremely deflating after weeks of calorie counting, training hard and getting steps up but no movement on scales ... Here are other ways to measure your progress: Clothes fit better Weight in training increases Digestion improves, no more bloating Sleep improvements Better choices with nutrition Without seeing progress we ask ourselves is this really worth my time and investment? The answer is always YES! Just remember... Being active is better than not being active Watching what you eat is better than mindless eating Getting your steps up is better than sitting on the couch Sufficient sleep is better than staying up late So, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! Your body and mind will thank you in the long run...



12.01.2022 H O W Y O U F E E L I N G ? Now that the festive season is over, you may be left feeling a bit... flabby, bloated, full or just meh! This is very normal for those who have consumed a higher calorie and/or alcohol intake over the past few weeks. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve gained fat, but you could simply be carrying excess fluid from the food and drink choices you’ve made. ... But.. it’s OK! We’re all human, and now it’s time to refocus and reset - once you’re back on track, this excess will drop off. Check out my tips to help you feeling instead of : GET MOVING - Increase your daily steps and get back to training at gym or home MEAL PREP - Plan all your meals for the week and track your calories again HIT YOUR PROTEIN GOAL - Ensure you are consuming enough protein every day GET (ENOUGH) SLEEP - Reset your sleeping patterns after longer days and late nights HYDRATE - Keep your water intake up! KEEP CALM - Stop stressing about how you’re feeling now and focus on how good you’ll feel once you’re back into your normal (fitness) routine! Just remember... Damage to our metabolic condition will be done is if the festive season continues for a longer period of time. 01.01.2022 W H Y P R O T E I N P O W D E R? Protein is the most important macronutrient in our nutrition for these reasons: Improves muscle breakdown Increases satiety ... Thermic Effect of Food (TEF) - burns more calories to process it! A growing problem in today’s world is consuming quality protein through meat is harder and can be expensive. Also more and more people are wanting to reduce the large consumption of meat.
