22.01.2022 Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS LATE THURSDAY 5 NOV For people in parts of Mid North Coast, Hunter and Metropolitan Forecast Districts.... Issued at 4:28 pm Wednesday, 4 November 2020. STRONG AND GUSTY SOUTHERLY WINDS ALONG THE COAST. Weather Situation: A surge of strong southerly winds are forecast to build on Thursday as a low pressure system deepens off the NSW coastline. This low is forecast to quickly move into the Tasman Sea with conditions easing by Friday. DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible about parts of the coastline from late Thursday afternoon. Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds early Friday morning as the low pressure system moves further offshore. Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Sydney, Forster, Seal Rocks, Bulahdelah, Nelson Bay, Wallsend, Toronto, Wyong, The Entrance and Woy Woy. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AEDT Wednesday.

Issued at 2:44 pm Monday, 23 November 2020. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra, Orange, Goulburn and Cobar. 93 km/h wind gust observed at Mt Ginini at 12:34pm 95 km/h wind gust observed at Cabramurra at 11:47am The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. 09.01.2022 Update: Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS, for people in Wollondilly/Wingecarribee, Greater Wollongong and parts of Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury and Sydney areas. Weather Situation:... The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Shellharbour and Lake Avon. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect Wollongong, Picton and the Nattai Tablelands by 3:55 pm and Sutherland, Sydney Airport, Katoomba, Camden, Campbelltown and Liverpool by 4:25 pm. Damaging winds are likely. Issued at 11:49 am Saturday, 31 October 2020. by Bureau of Meteorology Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions.
