22.01.2022 What a beautiful way to end Dementia Action Week! We have been sent a collection of items from The Toowoomba Womens Shed Inc. which includes fidget gloves, books and blankets for our residents living with Dementia. One of the ways that individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia show anxiety or agitation is in their hands. They will begin to fidget, pulling at clothes , or wringing their hands together. ... When we offer one of these Fidget items, they immediately gravitate to it, and it’s one way to help restore calm and give them comfort. Thank you so much to the ladies from Toowoomba. If you need to know more about Dementia or Alzheimer’s go to Dementia Australia If you’d like to fundraiser or volunteer in any way please contact: [email protected] To donate head to our website www.raymbegg.org.au/donate

19.01.2022 Generosity of Spirit | One for the Horse Breeders & Equine Industry In case you haven't yet read this week's Midland Express RM Begg is thrilled to have received a very generous offer from Spendthrift Farm, a leading Thoroughbred stud farm located in the Macedon Ranges’ scenic Kerrie Valley, to donate a nomination to their young, exciting stallion Overshare to RM Begg Kyneton Aged Care Inc. Overshare is the son of stakes-winning super-sire I Am Invincible. At an $11,000 serv...ice fee, Overshare is an ideal alternative for breeders whose budgets can’t quite stretch to I Am Invincible’s $209,000 fee, the stud's General Manager Garry Cuddy said. The aim of our fundraising auction is to ‘share’ a nomination to Overshare with RM Begg. HOW BREEDERS CAN BID Bids open Thursday 1 October 2020 and close Tues 6 October. Overshare will stand at Spendthrift Australia for a service fee of $11,000 incl. GST. You can view Overshare on Spendthrift Australia’s virtual stallion parade on their website: www.spendthrift.com.au/stallions/overshare/ Bids to buy the donated stallion nomination to Overshare for this stud season can be made via Bloodstock Auction: www.bloodstockauction.com *** We agree that at first glance the odds of a horse stud fundraising for an aged-care organisation might seem, well, long. But, as Garry Cuddy, General Manager at Spendthrift Australia who has been recently appointed to the Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria Board, explained, Covid doesn’t discriminate and has meant that the annual stallion parades have had to go on-line. Traditional open days here at the farm usually attract large numbers of visitors, which translate into bookings for our stallions for breeding services. This season will have its challenges and we know that a lot of other people are doing it tough, especially in the aged-care sector. So, this is a way we can help make a difference in our local community. The equine industry forms a large part of Macedon Ranges local economy from breeding and training to many support industries and services such as vets and farriers as well as manufacturers of horse-related products and feed. RM Begg spokesperson Sarah Collier welcomed the generous support of Spendthrift Australia and invited mare owners to submit their offers for this wonderful stallion and get behind this amazing and generous gesture. We hope the bidding whips up some real excitement among breeders and we’d love to see a photo finish! Ms Collier quipped. Donations can also be made directly to RM Begg via our website: www.raymbegg.org.au/donate Thank you to Spendthrift Farm for this amazing support of our aged care community. Bloodstockauction.com Macedon Ranges Equine Industry Network *** RM Begg completely releases Facebook and acknowledges that the promotion of the auction is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook.

19.01.2022 During COVID 19 restrictions we teamed up with Sacred Heart College and implemented a Pen Pal Program with Year 12 SHC VCAL students and residents of RM Begg. As a thank you for being a part of this program teacher Marika Payne from SHC organised lovely cupcakes (enough for all the residents) and a beautiful bouquet of flowers to be delivered. The cupcakes were made by an ex-student of SHC, her business is called ‘Baked by Hayley’, the residents were very appreciative of these gifts. #bakedbyhayley #shckyneton #rmbegg #agedcare #kyneton #penpal #cupcakes #flowers

16.01.2022 We held our annual 2020 Memorial Service yesterday to remember those who have left us over the past 12 months. We come together to share memories and celebrate their life. Please read an extract of Meredith’s words:... ‘What a strange and difficult 12 months it has been for us all, the support we have received from staff, residents, families, and the community has been wonderful and what makes RMBegg such a special place. Sadly, over the past 12 months we have lost some dear and loved residents whose lives we are here to remember and celebrate today. While sadly their families are unable to be here today the importance of our memorial service is no less special. Maybe because of these unusual times it is even more important to come together and reflect on the past year and to keep in our thoughts all those that we love’
