25.01.2022 Congratulations Jen for winning this months pool comp. Job well done mate. Big thanks to Paul who donated the Ned Kelly pool cue that we raffled off last month.... The funds were put towards purchasing 4x brand new 2 piece cues for the club. We will be running another raffle to raise funds for new lighting over the pool tables. Thank you everyone for your support.

24.01.2022 The Esk RSL Sub Branch has been unable to conduct it's usual commemorative and fellowship activities this year due mainly to the ongoing health matters and reti...rement of some of our older members. With major changes to the situation unlikely to occur in the near future, the Executive members of the Sub Branch met recently to discuss the situation. In order to continue to meet the overall objectives of the RSL, it was decided to reconfigure the Diggers Hall into a Meeting Venue/small fellowship place, History Room, Research Library, Military Display (museum style), Welfare Information/Interview area and larger office. A decision was also reached to dispose of, by Tender and or Sale (possible garage style sale), surplus catering items, kitchen eqpt., including a turbo oven, 3 door commercial refrigerator, 4 tray bain marie with trolley, stainless steel kitchen benches (on wheels) with racks and slide in containers and a number of tables and chairs, as well as bric-a-brac items. All proceeds from the sale of these items and eqpt., would then be utilised to fund the reconfiguration of the Diggers Hall. THE INITIAL GARAGE SALE WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY 1Oth October COMMENCING 8am at THE DIGGERS HALL 187 Ipswich St Esk. The sale is open to the general public and trade organisations showing interest in the commercial kitchen eqpt. Sale is by CASH or Elect Funds Transfer ONLY. EFTPOS NOT AVAILBLE. It must be stressed, that the Sub Branch is in a stable financial position, has a very solid membership base (we could do with more of course) and WILL CONTINUE TO HOLD IT'S CHARTER. The Sub Branch IS NOT CLOSING DOWN OR GOING AWAY. All enquiries should be directed to The Sub Branch President 0403003601 Or Sub Branch Secretary 0488309206

14.01.2022 Can you imagine spending almost 350 hours crocheting 2,060 poppies? That takes a lot of love and dedication! That's exactly what war widow Margaret Standfast di...d for a display in a Townsville shopping centre in honour of Remembrance Day. Margaret, a member of the Townsville RSL Women’s Auxiliary, worked on the project for 5.5 hours every day for nine weeks! Her poppies were added to a long red dress made by a local dressmaker, creating a spectacular train, and others were included on other displays provided by local schools and organisations. We applaud your handiwork Margaret!

08.01.2022 From the American Civil War to more recent conflicts, PTSD has plagued service people for centuries. Despite its widespread impact in the veteran community and ...beyond, PTSD wasn’t even recognised as an official diagnosis until the 1980s. To help raise awareness, we have created a timeline charting the history of PTSD, its effect on military personnel, and how our understanding of the condition has evolved. If you or a loved one are experiencing PTSD or another mental health issue, help is available. Learn more at https://www.rslqld.org/find-help/psychology-services.
