25.01.2022 Dispelling meditation myths Most of us have seen this ad by Jeep, if you haven’t jump on YouTube and watch it now, it’s a classic. But what I thought particularly funny about it was how it portrayed meditation and the people who practice it; the robes, the scarfs, the loose-fitting clothing, beaded necklaces. You know aka old school hippy look. ... And sure, there are people who do wear these types of clothes and meditate. But I would say 90% of the people I teach meditation do not. From corporates in suits, to tradesman and to those in active wear, meditation is for all walks of life and not just those who wear robes or scarfs. Sidenote: after 13 years of meditation I still do not have robe nor a scarf

24.01.2022 You learned how to be non-creative. Yep, you were a creative genius and that was slowly suppressed, crazy hey. Nasa and Dr. George Land and Beth Jarman crested a test to determine a creativity test that measured divergent thinking. The idea was simple: the more possibilities you can imagine, the more creative you are. They took this test and ran it on 1600 children and the results posted above are mind blowing. Can we tap back into that fountainhead of creativity to improve... our lives and those we share it with. Yes. The brain is plastic, we just need to learn how to break free from the stress based limited thinking. And for this, meditation is so good. Tap back into that deeper, more loving, more creative self. You deserve and right now we need all of us lifting to a higher place. . . . . . . . . #vedicmeditation #meditation #goldcoast #brisbane #meditationgoldcoast #meditationbrisbane See more

21.01.2022 Beers, Bongs or meditation? In the past it was either a beer or a bong (okay that was quite a few decades ago) that I’d reach for to help alleviate the symptoms of stress. Which in hindsight is a sign of intelligence, as my body was saying Rich this feeling sucks, help me out. Now that’s what I’d say is a maladaptive way to deal with stress. What’s maladaptive? Good question, well its a way of dealing with stress, anxiety or depression that could be labelled dysfunctiona...l and non-productive. Over time this feeling (stress) lead me to meditation, and where as now I twice daily meditate, which is an adaptive way of dealing with those shitty feelings, and over time those feelings become pretty non-existent. Challenges are still there and for sure, when loads on the platter I sense the stress response, but due to this daily practice I feel so much more apt in dealing with whatever life throws at me without stressing out. So the question to ask yourself is how do I deal with stress? Is it maladaptive or adaptive or to put another way a hindrance to evolving or helping you evolve. And if you feel you don’t experience stress, well unless you’re a master of the mind, a yogi or transcended the space time continuum we currently live in, I’d say perhaps you are but may not be aware of it. Don’t think stress is just that picture of a stressed out person, it can even just be the brain not functioning as optimally as possible due to the stresses in the body. That’s why I teach Vedic Meditation, as a healthy tool for handling life’s constant stressors. Enquire with me today to find out more.

15.01.2022 It’s easy to feel helpless, what can we do, how can we change and move forward? In our own lives and the collective. But the answers been in front of us all the time. To quote love is the answer, thanks John. If we keep coming back to that. Shining love. Acceptance. Strength. Compassion. Operating out of love can shine a torch on the next step, then the next and so on. We may not see the full road ahead - near impossible- but just a little light on the next step. Scary? S...ometimes. Love will push us out of our comfort zones, and that is good. We no longer can reside there. Don’t feel love? It’s there, in your quietest moments it will raise to meet you and shine a little light on, yep, the next step. Just be brave to trust that voice. It’s always for yours and the collectives best interest at heart. Imagine it. A world where we all express more unconditional love... . . . . . . . . . . #morelovelessfear #loveistheanswer #love See more

14.01.2022 A lot of us experience intense stress and overwhelm in life. It’s kinda like we’re standing a little too close to the fire at times. So can meditation make life a little easier? Now meditation is pretty amazing and while it does not remove the many challenges we face In life it does however it makes us better equipped to deal with them. Like we can take a step back from the fire and actually enjoy or appreciate it (even the challenges) rather than feel overwhelmed by it. And ...as a result if this over time we certainly may feel life does become a little easier. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #meditation #brisbanemeditation #goldcoastmeditation #brisbane #goldcoast

14.01.2022 Anxiety does not discriminate. Of late I have had an influx of people with varying degrees of this affliction, from incredibly successful to young children. . It sucks. . We paint a brave face yet inside the world is collapsing in on itself. With all that is playing out in the world it seems to be like we have dumped kerosene on the fire, especially for some of our youth whose future seems a little less brighter than previous years. We know this will pass and so too can the... crippling reality of anxiety. . Having seen and experienced first hand the change from people adopting a meditation practice into their life (alongside their other treatments) has been incredibly profound. . For some the challenge takes a little longer, but those that persist (and combine health practices such as movement and nutrition) the brain starts to rewire itself from the heavy darkness of anxiety to that of hope and possibility. . If you are experiencing anxiety, it is not something we are stuck with, the brain is plastic and we can change. When we’re in the depths seems an impossibility, but soo many others have walked the path and you can too. . We just have to want it and take the action to move toward a better future. It's not always easy but always worth it. . . . . . . . . #anxiety #goldcoast #meditation See more

14.01.2022 Sometimes the universe has a better plan. So have been out of the surf for 9 months now and tried to get back in about 6-8 weeks ago. Body said no. Not yet pal. After working my but off to do so. It certainly tested my ability to not indulge in frustration and self-pity. As surfings been centre on the mantlepiece for eons. But something unexpected took place, since couldn’t surf ended up hanging with our horses a lot. And in the process kinda fell for big Lenny here, he was... brought in to the fam for my wife to ride while her horse is being broken in. But now I’ve laid claim to Lenny and back riding horses after about 30+ years off them (had a horse when young). And man these creatures are such amazing beings. Over the last month seriously haven’t cared about not surfing (probably encouraged by testosterone and egos in lineups, getting over that big time - yet seeing the old me in that reflection), and if I had been surfing I would not have spent the time to surrender around the horses. So despite all the work I did smashing myself to get back surfing, it appears the universe wanted me to connect back in to a different space in nature. And for that I’m incredibly grateful, which can be seen here as I serenade big Lenny. To the art of surrender and letting nature play it’s role! See more

14.01.2022 Someone asked me if there’s reasons not to meditate. So here’s a list of reasons that if your experiencing 4 or more of these you’d probably not get much benefit from meditating, actually number 1 has to be included in those 4. . . . .... . . . . . . . . . . . #meditate #meditation @ Gold Coast, Queensland See more

12.01.2022 Soul time... used to require a wave and surfboard but time out of the water has shifted that.

10.01.2022 Set up camp... Lifestyle living while we finally start the process of building on our land.

10.01.2022 Be the ocean at play... Or should I say realise you are the ocean playing waves. . We an expression of the cosmos playing the beautiful game of life in the form of a human experience. When we really think about it, there’s such beauty and truth in this very old clue of life. So we need more play, love and laughter as it is a fleeting trip through forest leaving nothing but a faint echo in our wake.

10.01.2022 Making coffee looks a little different on the build site - but it tastes just as good.

08.01.2022 Appropriate... time for a universal shedding before we embark. Our resident python dropped this off today. Had few conversations where it seems energy is off a little, perhaps we are in the process of removing the old. Which is never a comfortable process, but a beautiful one all the same. . . . .... . . . . #shedyourskin #lmorelovelessfear #upgradelife See more

07.01.2022 Let’s tackle stress, anxiety and depression together. Enquire through my website today and book a free one on one consult to see if Vedic Meditation is the right practice for you.

06.01.2022 But how do you know which form of meditation is right for you? There are 3 main forms of meditation (all meditation falls into one of these). The first is concentration forms) such as vipassana and japa meditation. To focus on a candle, thought or mantra etc, (activates the left hemisphere of the brain.). Great for establishing focus and concentration. A lot of people find this a challenge as it requires controlling the mind. The second is contemplation (such as mindfulnes...s practices, guided meditations and visualizations. Activates the right hemisphere). Is good for reducing the activity of the stress response and inducing states of calm. A lot about bringing the mind back to the present moment. The 3rd form is transcending forms of meditation (such as Transcendental meditation and Vedic which use Bija mantras - sounds that mean nothing, activates both hemispheres of the brain). Good for reducing activity of the stress response and increases brain coherence activating both the left and the right hemispheres. All meditation is good, but it is really a matter of finding out which practice you resonate with. I experimented and fumbled my way with many before arriving at Vedic meditation which felt the best fit for me.

05.01.2022 Why Should I choose Vedic Meditation? The pressures of modern life takes its toll on our nervous system. This pressure we can label stress, which is the biggest killer on the planet. This pressure presents itself in many forms, anxiety, depression, aggression, irritability, agitation and stress. Vedic meditation is a science-based meditation practice that is both easy and effortless while being incredibly effective to help release theses pressures from the nervous system. I...t is like a daily de-frag that helps us to live life without constantly feeling rushed, pushed and pulled by the modern world. Leaving us more effective to perform and handle the day-to-day activities of life without triggering the stress response. Book your spot in my last course of the year today and give your body the tools it needs to handle what this modern life throws at you. Head to my website now to secure your place, only limited spots left.

05.01.2022 You’ll find that often, the biggest challenge of change is the people around you; halting your progress and pulling you back to who they think you should be, not who you want to be. It’s not intentional its almost automatic in this society to stunt other people's development with our own preconceptions of how ‘we’ think they should act. Vedic Meditation can help give us the tools we need to silence those voices and bring into focus our true priorities.

05.01.2022 Why should I choose Vedic Meditation 02 Well, it’s easy. The last thing we need today is something else that’s hard to add to the list. I have taught this to so many people who truly believed they could never meditate. As many people find some forms of meditation a challenge and even agitating, i.e. concentrating on the breath or candle etc., and for some of us this just sets up a failed attempt at meditation with a see told you I suck at meditation... There is also science that compares the 3 main forms of meditation (concentration, contemplation and self-transcending such as Vedic) that show what is happening in the brain during meditation. The long and short of that study is the concentration & contemplation forms of meditation switch on part of the brain needed for any goal/based activity. Self-transcending activates what is known as the default mode network. The part of the brain we turn on during periods of rest.. If you love science and want to read the peer-reviewed journal shoot me a message and will send it over to you. But if you are just looking for an easy and effective form of meditation come and learn Vedic meditation. It’s a game-changer.

04.01.2022 There was a study done where they got 4-5 year olds, split them in a group of 2. One group was shown an ad of a toy twice. The other were not. Then they brought them back together and they had to make a choice to play with one of two boys. One was a bully and they told them not a nice child to play with. The other the opposite a fun happy child, a good friend. Now the bully has the toy though. And low and behold. Most the kids in the group that saw the ad put themselves in h...arms way to be near the toy. The other group of course chose the nice child. Relevance? Well every day of our lives were exposed to marketing to make us think we are less than. We need x to feel good, to look a certain way to feel connected and happy. And these marketers are super clever, they know what makes us tick. Just like the children seeing an ad just twice were prepared to go in harms way.Crazy. And what are we doing that puts us in harms way to be nearer the toy? But imagine if magazines and media enforced positive imagery, positive enforcement and these messages become the norm, in schools, in homes, on our screens. Perhaps a utopian idea. But a nice one... .if you want to read this I read it in a book called the lost connection. A great read. . . . . . #youareenough #morelovelessfear

03.01.2022 In Australia drinking is a right of passage and part of the culture. A positive one? Debatable. I used to watch my dad every night drink a few beers, a wine or two and throw in a scotch. While telling me to avoid drugs... that didn’t work and certainly followed suit with the alcohol for a long time too. Till I started to feel so shit after drinking the payoff was no longer worth the pain. It was a tuff call but one I’m glad I made. And im not alone, seems more and more people are trying to cut back or stop drinking but it can be a challenge. If that’s you head over to @the.happy.mind.project and have a listen to our latest chat with friend and former party animal @rorykinsellameditation where he shares how he went from music industry heavy drinker to being dry for the last 2.5 years.

03.01.2022 And after a long search they realised they were beings playing human, who can laugh and cry, love and hate, dance or destroy and they laughed as they realised that is the gift all along.
