19.01.2022 Oooooo, is it a new artwork? Is it a statement on on the solitude we have all felt at some point during this year? Is it a leopard seal on the ice of Antarctica, photographed from above? Nope. It's insect poop.... Consent was not sought from the artists for these pesky additions to artworks. While we're sure the insects in question believe they are adding interest and scope to paintings with such deposits, they are strongly discouraged. Deposits like this can react with the p...aint surface, causing surface damage and staining. To minimise this, our Collections Officer has recently completed a review of the collection to ensure that these pesky artistic additions have been removed from all effected artworks until the artists and insects reach an agreement going forward.* *No paintings were harmed in the creation of this post. #gallerylyf #conservation #insectfrass #abstractart
